There are a few stores in my area. I'm in the Galveston area and the 1st b&m vape shop to open up on the island is not so great. They have pretty good knowledge and fantastic home brewed juices but their prices are out of this world. $1 per ml of juice and though they have a very nice selection of gear the markups are stupid high. $60 for a Magneto, $70 for an MVP2 and then state tax on top, no thank you. The only reason I will ever go there again is for the juices, their juices are better then anything you can find online but they charge you out the .... for them... There are a few other places in the Nasa area that are great but they're over half an hour away so until my local drops their prices or a competitor opens up, I'm sticking with online vendors

We have a lot of stores in our area. I know I ask a lot of questions and am still learning, but it seems no matter what store I go into the staff seem very rude and condescending. I try to be very polite and friendly, but it doesn't seem to matter. This has happened in three local stores. I am all about buying local and love supporting my community but this experience has sent me to the internet to get what I need product wise. I tend to live in a very friendly area and am shocked by this.

I just think overall this would be very off putting for many people interested in changing from smoking to vaping which is a shame. Does anyone else have similar problems or better luck? I'm just curious if it is my area or just the industry.

There are several shops I'm my area but only one good one. He's a little higher price than the internet but with shipping he's about the same so I buy from him simply so I don't have the wait time. I also have somewhere to go if I have any issues.

A local shop that has become very successful just moved to a larger and move visible location. After looking for a particular product on the web on several different sites, I decided to drop by and "buy local" even though the cost was higher. When I couldn't locate the product in their display case, I asked the kid behind the counter about it. "Nope, don't carry it, and never have" was his response. Thinking I may have confused them with another location considering I had viewed several web sites that day, I went home and double checked. Yep, right there on their web page was the product in question showing several in stock.

This isn't the first time I have been "blown off" by this particular store. It seems like they just want to push product out the door and don't care about customer service. I ended up ordering my product from the web. I need to visit the store durring the day or on a Saturday to see if the service is different.

I'm been in several thru out the East Coast.....I've decided that it you walk in the door and see nothing but EGO clone blister packs, CE4-6 Clearo's and a flavor tree the service is gonna be lousy because the folks behind the counter arent real vapors and the juice is gonna suck.

Until recently there were no BM's here in east Atlanta but the one that just opened kinda blew my mind. Blister packs as far as the eye can see so when I pulled out my tanked Mod she smiled. "You need to come over here to this counter Sir." That counter had 3 ohm cart's, cart tanks Pro tanks and a sweet little Steam Pipes Mod that I will got back for very soon. The juice is 7.99 for 10mls but its EVO liquid (not great but not Chinese crappolla) and they only had 10ml bottles but they were selling them at quanity discount, every 10th bottle is free and they were within 50 cents of the best prices I can find online on their gear. It turns out she was the better half of a hubby/wife ownership team not an hourly employee and I gotta tell ya'll.....I'll go back any time I need something.

The worst was down in Panama City Fla....was run by what looked like a fellow who couldnt support his "habits" with a head shoppe so he ordered a couple of cases of blister packs and opened a shop....Didnt vape didnt know Shpitt about the gear and the 28 dollar bottle of juice I bought was horrible.

I think the trick is to find an owner operator that likely vapes 1/2 of the stores profits......

Only been to 6 or 7 full tilt stores so far... But yes, just a slice of society. People are people.

What my old boss taught me years ago:
"It's easier to hold on to a customer than to find new one's."

His meaning was to try make and keep your customers happy... and you will keep those customers and get referrals for new customers from them. If you treat customers badly, you may get their money once... but you are not only going to lose their business, but also lose any perspective customers they talk with.

Funny how that works...

Just my :2c: ,
The B&M that are there for vapers,
are there for you.

Have found 2 that are hands on, above and beyond
the other cash and carry places.
They do and will continue to get my business.....
D*** great places to visit.

Those that are there for the quick $$$,
are only there for the quick $$$.
Vaping is just an after thought to them.
Have not been back after the first visit..

Sorry your experience sucked, Angela. I am sure it varies from place to place, but to run into 3 stores in a row that provide a less than satisfactory (instead of stellar) experience is really discouraging. Retail put me through college and I had 3 computer stores at one point. I always realized that people could go buy most products from a variety of places, so I stressed that the customer service, helpfulness and genuine caring were the things that separated successful stores from un-successful ones. I also remembered that the customer was doing us a service by choosing to walk into our business and our job was to be helpful. If we were truly helpful, sales would happen. I didn't want to sell someone a product....I wanted to gain a long term customer.

In the world of the internet, local B&M's will have to realize that service will be what keeps them in business. I'm thrifty, but am willing to pay a bit more to shop local. However, if the service sucks, I can do my research and find what I want on-line.

I hope that your next local experience is dynamite. If it isn't, the info in ECF can really help finding some great on-line vendors.

I have been in a few stores where I tried the samples and bought the product and once I got home the product didn’t taste the same. After taking it back they argued that because they mix it themselves it couldn’t be wrong. Guess that’s why they haven’t seen me back in there store.

I almost started laughing when I read your post. The only place I found much vaping equipment in my area was in convenience stores and in a couple smoke shops. The smoke shops preferred you bought cigarettes or cheap cigars. The convenience store staff knew nothing about the gear they had on display. I learned more information in five minutes here on the forum than I did talking to staff at three smoke shops and two convenience stores.

I talked to the owner of my local cigar shop where I buy a few of my cigars. He is debating adding some vaping gear, but is trying to get "smart enough" to talk about it before he adds anything.

Online vendors have been the most knowledgeable and helpful for me, which many times has been the case with my cigar purchases, too.

These folks will speak WITH - not TO - you on the phone. I love 'em and Customer Service is superb! I prefer to speak with LADIES as they seem more apt tp be HONEST in their information. I never feel rushed and my "lady preference" always is as happy as can be; they get ALL my business. Others opinions may vary.

Electronic Cigarettes | Ecigarette Kits & Eliquids by Aqua Vapor Cig --- Great value on Sample Packs .... Batteries are very good IMHO and they offer a pretty full line of "goodies".

If you ever get to Fort Worth - I had a great telephone conversation with the staff here:
"820 Vapor"
4291 East Loop 820
Fort Worth, Texas 76119
817-881-4421

I think they are also here:
"820 Vapor"
322 E Abram St, Arlington, TX 76010
Phone:(817) 881-4421
Hours: Tuesday 10:00 am – 7:00 pm

From Senility Central - Don in New Mexico

There's one local store I don't go to anymore because of one of their employees, who copped a really nasty attitude at me right off the bat, making snarky remarks to me, ridiculing me for the way I build my RBA's, and deliberately giving me the wrong juice which they make up there in the store with nic. I went to his boss, and nothing was done about it, so I don't go there anymore.

I later learned he can't set up an RBA at all. I'm guessing he didn't like it that a girl could do something he couldn't, but there was more to it than that. I just don't know what his problem was.

There's another store here that has a bad rep, and everyone says that when they go in there they feel like they maybe shouldn't be there. I got that same feeling there. Then there's the one vapor lounge here in town where the guy running it alienates every woman who goes in there. I hear them talking about him in all the other stores, referring to him as that a**hole.

There are two very good stores here in Naples though, friendly staff, good prices, and you can just hang out there if you like. At a couple of the stores here in town the owners/managers are just so intense and driven I don't feel like being there. It's not comfortable, and they tend to act like you should buy something or leave real soon.

One of my local shops has ana extensive display of hardware. Yet, if you ask, "which do you like best? Which is most durable? Etc etc" - they ALWAYS go to the highest priced one in the display. If one asks, "How about THAT ONE?" ..... they say, "...it is JUNK. We have those on CLOSEOUT because we won't be carrying them any longer". It's JUNK - but they are still SELLING this JUNK! Douchebags!

I have one local shop - which is actually a smoke shop that is just getting into vaping.

The owner is a 20+ year acquaintance of mine - we ran in the same circles in HS.

Unfortunately, when I went there after I started vaping, he wasn't there.

The kids that were working there were terrible. Their juice is 100%vg (which is fine for me) because "PG is made from anti-freeze" (groan). I didn't even ask why, so they could have avoided that blunder all together.

They ignored the questions I was asking, or didn't understand them, because their replies sounded programmed and scripted - and didn't actually answer my questions. The juice was fine - but too expensive for not having a choice in nic level.

It made me sad - I would like to patronize a local vape business, but I will get nmy emergency juice from the gas station to avoid the ignorance.
