I think that the e-cig looks so realistic I'd be afraid to use it in the pub and have been going outside with my e-cig. Or going to the powder room and having a drag in the cubicle.

Don't you think the landlord would chuck you out if you actually used it like a cigarette in a pub?

Also I'm sure they wouldn't let you use it on an aeroplane. Do you think they would stop you at customs with it. I thought they might not let you through as it's an electronic device?

Was going to post this morning how much i love my ecig. Last night it was freezing out and the bar did not allow smoking. Well i spent the whole night vaporizing inside and not one complaint. Now I was not blowing out huge volumes of clouds but I was letting off a little. My buddy who thinks I am stupid had to go out side to smoke and freeze. I just kept tapping on the glass and blowing smoke at the window all nice and warm inside.

As for the planes, I have had not problem taking it on board and hitting he head to have a few puffs. Dont really want to try it at the seat as it might cause reason for the air marshals to give me some grief...

LOL

Your friend was probably well ticked of!

I don't think it would work in the UK - it's really not that well heard of and I honestly think you'd get chucked out.

It's a shame because there is no smell or anything but it looks so realistic with the smoke coming out.

I read on one of the threads here that you're not allowed them on Aeroplanes though?

My finest hour of stealth vaping was on a transatlantic flight. I looked out the window much of the flight and with my personal air jet full open, and my "pen" held thoughtfully in my mouth I had no problems at all. For some reason, e cigs aren't allowed -- or so they think!

I just don't think I would have the guts to go completely public with it.

I'm rather worried as I showed some people in the office and I think the boss has got wind of it. I'm concerned that I may get a warning tomorrow.

On the website when I got them it said that you could smoke them in public places but the more I read into it the more I think I HAVE done something wrong.

Zapper, just explain & demonstrate them to pub landlords/barmaids/men before using them.

Also print off some of the FAQS from good sellers websites (Lisa @ Cloud 9 for instance) & show them to anyone wanting to know more about your e-cig. The good sellers usually send you a card/flyer with info on that you can hand out to people.

Here is a link to Lisa's FAQS : -

Hello Whiskey :D

Zapper, honestly I think you are worrying too much. Mind you, I do think it helps if you have an e-cig that can't be mistaken for a real cig - even if it just has a different coloured LED would help.

I was vaping on a train a few weeks ago & the guard walked past - the look on his face to begin with was priceless! When he saw the vape he thought I was smoking & was ready to have a go at me. Ended up spending the rest of the journey demonstrating my e-cig to him (& other passengers sitting close by). Even popped on a fresh newly filled cart for him to have a go - result at least one more converted smoker ;D

Ay Up Zapper,

I use my ecig in all pubs I go to. I only openly vape in those that I have had clearance from the landlord but I stealth vape in the others. I have never been told that I cannot vape :)

I started a Campaign for Vaping in Pubs (CAM-VIP) and compiled a list of pubs where vaping is openly accepted - see my sig and sites linked off the main one.

Merry Christmas and all the best to Vapers InAle ;)

I prefer not ask in any establishment before using e-cig anywhere...

Whether it is waiting for your girlfriend to try on her new outfit at the store.. or while you're having an X-ray in the hospital.. or having a coffee in town.. or even in the Houses of Parliament! :)

It is perfectly legal; so I reckon to wait and see if they tell you not to (it hasn't happened to me yet), and then you can show them how! :smokie:

Only advice I would give is wait until the plane takes off before lighting up.. then they can't exactly chuck you off can they...

I tended to vap from a closed fist using my less 'smokey' HIGH nico PG. Because it is High nico I only needed a single decent hit and the vapour was hardly noticeable.

But on boxing day I vapped openly around Manchester and nobody said anything, and mine is a very decent cigarette lookalike with an fade in/out orange tip. I'd never ask first as it is an open question and invites a no response from a landlord worried about the law or customer reaction.

By far the best thing we can all do is to educate everyone we meet. We should all carry a little printed literature with us to educate pub landlords and clientele. Most landlords are unhappy with the smoking ban anyway, so provided you can show them in black and white that eCigs are under the health & safety radar they'll be happy. It is all about ...-coverage. If they feel their ... is covered they're going to be more relaxed. As for Non-Smoker clients, I find that explaining that the vapour they see is actually an odourless, airborne antibacterial which is commonly used in the air conditioning in hospitals for reasons of public health - they tend to be easily placated. Particularly once they realise it doesn't smell of anything.

If any staff still ask you not to, then comply without forcing a debate, but make sure you get some literature to them.

I do, but then I am a bar manager anyway :p One thing to be aware of though is JD Wetherspoons don't allow vaping, because other customers (mainly the dregs of society) will probably just spark up if they see someone vaping and cause hassle for the staff, I emailed head office some time ago, might write again as vaping is starting to become more popular over here.
