Upon advice from this forum, I am going to mix up a few different batches of my base to taste test only. Starting with 36mg nicotine and mixing it down to 6mg. I am going to do a 50/50 pg/vg, 60/40, and 30/70 and same going heavy on the vg.
Is there any reason to steep this mix? Does the flavour of these 3 ingredients change over time? If not I will just make smaller batches.

Thanks

Mixing down to 6 may be too low. Once you add flavor you will be even lower. Maybe mix down to 8? You can always dilute lower but not up without more nic. I personally don't mix base but that is just me. I like being able to goof off with ratios and if I don't like it I am not stuck with 50mls of base I don't like.

All that being said lots of people mix up base for later use.

In my experience, steeping unflavored base will help but is not strictly necessary. You will want to shake it several times regardless, but for the mix to become thoroughly blended, some molecular interaction (diffusion) is required, which can most easily be accomplished by heat and/or time. But if you swill be adding flavoring and then steeping, steeping the base beforehand is not needed; just make sure it is well mixed.

I'd suggest adding a couple more samples with added distilled water, especially with the higher vg experiments. 5 percent and 10 percent are good ratios to test. You may or may not like it but you never know until you try. :vapor:

Taste may change slightly due to oxidation of NIcotine. The higher the Nicotine level the more you will notice the taste. It may introduce a harshness. At that low of a nicotine level (6mg) I don't think steeping is going to produce much of a shift in taste. So I would just mix your base and test it skipping steeping.

Steeping is most important after you add flavoring. Not all flavors require steeping so it is best to always taste your juice right after mixing and before steeping. This will give you a baseline to judge the steeping progress.
