I recently picked up some CGR18650CH panasonic batteries from fasttech and was asked my my friend whether they increased the vapor power. I responded that I didn't think battery type had any effect on actual vapor since it would still be outputting the same wattage and that more or less the only difference would be the length of use that you could get out of the battery. So I did a quick internet search to see if anything turned up but nothing. So I figured I'd just get a straight answer from you guys if you know. Thanks.

Short answer....no affect. The battery 'should' come off the charger at ~4.2V. But the longer answer will get more complicated. Some mods, as you know, can only handle a specific type battery. Some are protected, others not. Some handle discharge better, some have a rapid discharge rate. Provari, for example, starts to blink when it hits it's threshold on an AW IMR batt. It's a steeper decline so it would require X time between charges. If you were able to use an MNKE, you'd notice that the discharge curve isn't as steep and it could maintain the output over a longer period of time.

Now, there is a full detailed explanation that could be given by anyone that could bust out the science and numbers behind it. This is a readers digest version. But I know a search on ECF for batteries would offer up some more detail.
