Does dual coil really produce twice as much vapor/hit?

Most dual coils are in parallel right? meaning the same voltage powers both coils, as opposed to being in series? This would theoretically mean twice the power output, so I would expect twice the vapor/hit.

However, I tried the Iclear16 dual coil and was not impressed. It produced roughly the same vapor as my single coil vivi nova. So therefore, is dual coil overrated?

Speaking of dual coil, are there companies other than Innokin that produces dual coil devices? thx

I don't know I'd say dual coil is over-rated...because I've never seen it advertised as producing twice the vapor/hit. Dual coil IS different than single coil, but not twice as good.

Personally, I love the iClear30. In fact, it is the only clearo I'm currently using. Compared to my kayfun and my ibtanked carto tanks, clearos just get out-performed. The iClear30 still competes though. Whether or not it is because it is dual coil, I'm not sure.

lots more but less than 75% more. Based on Aqua/Origin/Sony VTC4 experience.

I like it better because of less stress on coils and wicks which mean less change out. Single coil aqua, after 3 days, looked and tasted clean. I would expect better lasting coils in dual mode even with lower ohm setting (like single 1.2 versus dual 0.8)

I'm sure it could come close to outputing twice the vapor if I just drill out these 4 airholes, widen the dremel, and widen the chimney. but it won't do that till my other aqua shows up in the mail.

There's a lot of debate surrounding this - some say dual coils are better and some say that it's not worth the effort and/or money. When it comes to having a dual coil on an RBA, it often does produce more Vapour but it's definitely not really twice the Vapour. With commercial tanks or clearomisers it's a completely different situation, as sometimes you'll get a setup that somehow managed to sneak through quality control but probably shouldn't have.

I've got some firsthand experience with this. I've used an Aerotank for a while now, and the dual coils at times didn't perform as well as I'd been led to believe they would. However, I recoil the atomiser heads now and my recoiled single coil definitely performs a whole lot better than the dual coils heads I bought along with the tank. I got the same results on my Aspire Nautilus and once again with the iClear 30s.

It's a mixed bag of opinions but my own personal one is that it's a matter of quality control (luck on your part) and the mod you're using. If you can't get enough voltage to that coil you're gonna notice it, as a 2Ohm dual coil will need the same voltage as a 4Ohm single coil. Also talking once again from personal experience: it was nowhere near twice the Vapour, but I have sometimes had more Vapour.

The answer to the OP is "it depends". Not quite as simple of a question as it may seem.

If you are using 2 ohm single coils and go to a 1.5 ohm dual coil it definitely will not. 1.5 dual coil is actually two 3 ohm coils. You will get more vape for some of the reasons stated above but not double. However if you are using 3 ohm and go to dual at the same it will come close to double the vapor production.

As you correctly state the same amount of volts goes across each coil since they are in parallel. A matter of semantics is people incorrectly state dual coils cuts the ohms in half. This is not true. Each coil is still 3 ohms it is actually doubling current and power. The more accurate statement is "it has the EFFECT of cutting the resistance in half".

Is Innokin the only company that makes dual coil devices?

No. Most delivery device makers have at least some devices that are dual coil.

Most of the post above have a good graps on double the vapor.

The only sure way to get double the vapor = Suck on 2 VP at the same time !!

Even if the top grade battery and the set up is at 100% optimum (all the planets lined up.)....... One mouthpiece and airhole for given tank will never ever deliver double vapor.

Vapor snobs needs not apply here.

Cheers
