does everybody boil their mesh?

If yes, why? To clean or other reasons?

Also, I saw in raidy's original thread, if I understood correctly, he boiled the wick after it was rolled????

I've only built 3 and haven't boiled any. They work great! Am I missing something, just a dummy, or are there others like me?

I just oxidize the mesh, no boiling here

I don't boil, but I always wash my SS mesh with warm water and dish washing liquid. Just want to be sure that there is no oils or leftovers from manufacture or handling!

when I vaped ss mesh I never boiled or washed but this was when most oxidized the mesh really well, now most just pulse oxidize so maybe a clean is needed a little more. when I used to oxidize im pretty sure that was enough to get rid of anything that might have been left on the mesh. although I only vape porous ceramic now, if I were to go back to ss mesh and just pulse oxidize I think I would clean the mesh.

I simply wash my mesh with warm soap and water. Then I oxidize it prior to rolling.

Ya I've never washed mine just burn the crap outta it. I now have a cheap plastic bolt that I but my aga on to do the pulse method on so I'll see if I get any funkyness from it then I might start washing it.

A quick light burn with a flame will get rid of any oils. I do that before I roll the SS.

I boil mine --it makes common sense and it does make an oxidizing huge difference


wrap it, boil it, oxidize it, I boil it again
uber clean taste

If you know anything about synthetic oils the residues that can be there after torching
-- even though mesh sellers say clean --
I also wash my fruit and veggies before eating -- even though they say clean --

yeah it oxidizes much better after a boil, it also taste much better --
100% proven if you try it

Thanks all! That's what I thought as well. Even though I pulse to oxidize I would run a flame over both sides before I rolled it. Figured that would get any nasties off. But with what Kevin says I may give boiling a try to see if it makes a difference.
