I am obviously quite new to e-cigs and liquids.
Just have a simple question for you. Does higher Nicotine MG levels change the taste or TH or anything at all?
Just curious might be a stupid question, but was wondering before I placed an order.

Also one more question, I just quit smoking not long ago and I am itching for a cigarette, I use to smoke black and milds, then moved to Marlboro reds.
My parents smoke Ultra lights, my dad could smoke reds but smoked ultras because that's why my mom smoked and they would just buy a carton. My mom quit after so many years and my dad is about to jump aboard.

If I went with 24MG of Nicotine would that be to much for my mom? I don't think it would be for me or my dad, but is it a harder vape compared to 12mg, 16mg or 18mg?

Thanks
Jon

No and yes. Since the e-cig doesn't have all the combustion and other chemicals, it's mainly the nicotine providing the TH. It doesn't have much flavor, though.

Some light / ultra light smokers prefer using 16mg+ liquid, while some people who smoked Reds prefer 18mg or less. If you can, get a variety.

Also, you might get faster responses to simple questions in the New Members Forum.

IMO the level of nicotine does not really affect the th or taste. I have vaped everything from 11mg to 36mg and I cant tell them apart. However, your mom might find that 24mg is too strong when it comes to the amount of nic she is getting. If she gets too dizzy or fells ill, its probably too high for her. You might want to get some 11mg just to be on the safe side.

Yep, nicotine has a peppery taste on the back of your tongue. It changes the flavor of the juice.

Some people think it adds TH, some don't. The main thing that contributes to TH is PG content/percentage.

Your old smoking habits can give you a general idea of where to start, but very often it is irrelevant. Your mom could easily prefer a higher level than you guys. Get some low, medium and high in the same flavor, so you can get some idea. If money is tight, get medium and high. If you wind up needing low, you can cut it down with cheap VG you can get locally. Don't worry about it going to waste, it can be mixed together to make the level you need. There are tons of people here that can help with the details once you figure out what you want. Don't confuse yummy flavor with nicotine preference, the low nic will naturally taste better (not as much peppery taste, remember?).

EDIT: @ PureVapes; Wow, you can't taste the difference in high and low nic juice? I've heard that from a few people, but I just figured they weren't paying attention. I'm pretty sure YOU have been paying attention.

I agree with quasi, though my experience with nicotine's flavor has been more bitter than peppery. It doesn't change it a ton in any case when a juice is well made. As for throat hit, yah, my no-nic varieties of juice I make have almost no noticeable throat hit, while the nic variety has decent throat hit.

Well, I just didn't want to bias his decision by telling him it affects the taste. It does affect the taste, and I dislike it, but I still vape the mg that I need to satisfy my nicotine desires. Also, IMO it does add a little distraction from the rest of the flavors but to me it's kind of like putting a little pepper on your egg - you don't taste the egg less, you just taste the pepper as well. :2c:

I'm not sure about the PG giving TH, from what I recall 0 nic PG has almost no TH. It is certain that VG detracts from TH, though.

I agree with bits and pieces of what others have said. For me, nic level affects taste by distraction. Thoat hit is a combination of nicotine and heat. PG carries the TH "better" because VG tends to dampen it and I found PEG 400 increases TH even more. I'm not big on throat hit so my throat feels it ;-) I vape VG at 11mg. Some flavors can irritate the throat to simulate TH - menthol, pepper, curry, ginger, cinnamon, and the 'diablo' flavors from Decadent Vapours and the atomic flavors from elsewhere. Other flavors can reduce it even with high mg ejuices - cream, vanilla, coconut, Ecopure regular.

As an ultra light smoker, I had recently started mixing up different nic levels using doublers this past weekend. I decided on a flavor that I had been vaping that was 12 mg, and mixed up some 48 mg plus some doubler to get a new mix of 36 mg of the same flavor. Found that I was getting a definite taste difference, but it was still vapeable. Then yesterday, I mixed up some more to get 24 and differential wasn't as dramatic but still a bit different from the 12. Still, I needed the boost as I am tapering off the analogs and am finding what mg seems to work best. I do vape 3 other flavors during the day ranging from 12 - 16 mg. Since the 48 and doubler were recently purchased, I think it is still "aging", so I'll see how my mixes go after they sit.

So would agree that if you can, get different strengths to try. Sometimes one may only need the higher one during certain situations or during certain times of the day.
