does it matter what watts you are using?

i have an ipv2

1. if i build a dual coil rated at .8 ohms, does it matter if i use 25 watts or 50 watts?

2. the lower you go, the higher watt setting? to produce more vapor?

1. Yes, it matters, absolutely. Aside from the fact that wattage is doubled, you need to make sure your I's are dotted and your T's are crossed when you get into higher-powered vaping, whether it's on a regulated mod or if you're chasing clouds with a low sub-ohm coil.

2. Sometimes, but not always. Yes, generally speaking, higher power applied to lower resistance can produce more vapor, but there's a lot of other things that go into clouds. Coil design, wick material and placement, air flow, and e-liquid.

I can take a 1.6 ohm Aspire coil and burn it out at 30 watts, or a hand-wound micro coil on a rebuildable atomizer at 1.6 ohms and vape all day long at 30 watts.

Was there a specific atomizer/coil combo you were curious about?

Ive been using the clt infinite but im no where near where these "cloud chasers" are outputting in terms of vapor production, maybe my build is whack ? Or maybe im not pulling long enough ? I find that when i pull too long it gets too hot for my tastes, i pull about 1-2 seconds around 25 watts and 2-3 at 20 watts, 5 seconds at 7 watts (mvp 2.0 + nautilus aspire)

Rda i realized are slowly not my thing because i have to contantly check if my wicks are not dry to prevent a dry burn, and dry burns are very unpleasant feels like my whole lungs are on fire, is there a health risk to dry burns ?

Im looking at kayfun lite plus but its polycarbonate so that means my juices might wax it up, my friend has it running at 15-20 watts, the flavor is not as good as the magma but its right behind it and the vapor production is as good as my nautilus

1:
Yes it does.
Too much watts makes it too hot; too little watts means not hot enough.

2:
No.

The more coil you have the higher the wattage you need to get it hot enough.
A 0.8 ohm dual coil needs the same wattage as a 3.2 ohm single coil of the same gauge.
(0.8 ohm dual coil is 2 1.6 ohm coils in parallel; 2 x 1.6 = 3.2 if in series.)

The bigger the coil the more wattage you will need.

If you make a 0.8 ohm single coil with 32 gauge kanthal, it can't take the power that a 0.8 ohm single coil of 28 gauge can take.

Watts (power) is the amount oh heat you are putting into your atty. 25 watts is always 25 watts of heat no matter what the setup is in there. OTOH, if you use thin wire vs thicker, that will change your vape experience at 25 watts.

The amount of watts you put into the atty will determine the amount of airflow you need to keep the vape and the atty cool. More watts needs more airflow. As you increase the power, IMO somewhere between 15 and 20 watts you should be switching from mouth hits to lung hits or you will simply be wasting the extra power. This means the air holes or passageways need to be big enough for you to be able to take lung hits. Without enough air going through the atty the vape becomes hot and so does the atty.

Watts is one of the last things you need to ask about.

The first is - What the heck am I doing Messing with something I know nothing about! :D

Study....................... and then study some more. :toast:

Watts are fundamental to the vape experience. Too few of these little guys and you have no vape. Too many for your setup can be unhealthy.

Asking questions is always a good thing and helps people learn if the questions are answered well :)
