Does nicotine burn?

On 2 occasions I've had a couple of sore spots and swelling on my inner lips, top and bottom on the same side I normally put my drip tip when vaping. I remember for certain that on the last occasion I'd held my mod upside down trying to clear the gurgle and getting a mouth full of ejuice and I'm pretty sure that happened the first time as well. I normally vape 12 to 18mg nicotine so could this be the cause or just coincidence?

It could be that you're sensitive to it, although I don't believe it actually 'burns'. I've done the same thing trying to clear a gurgling, leaking Kayfun, ended up with juice in my mouth and not had a burning problem. Try vaping on the other side and see if the same thing happens. If it does, you may have an allergy somewhere (either with the pg/vg or the material of the drip tip). If nothing happens, it may just be coincidence.

Steam vapors also can BURN. Hot PG and VG will burn. 0nic Ejuic is an irritant especially to mucus membranes, basically any wet part of the body.

Ok will keep an eye on it. Like I said only twice so far and don't change juices much and been vaping about 6 month so ruling out allergy for now. Could be just a sensitivity I guess, we will see what happens.

Real Allergies usually present as Hives break out - itchy bumps first.
No telling how many members we have that THINK they are allergic to PG.........but are NOT - I'm talking the self diagnosed types.
Nic burn will depend on several things including:
Sensitivity
Strength
Exposure

12mg or above will cause me a burning feeling if on my tongue of a lip.
At 3mg, I can sample taste my e-liquids without issues.

Any time I get juice in my mouth I rinse with water, Keep your tips clean. You may just be a little sensitive to the juice your using.

Possibly the drip tip? I'm allgeric to nickel. So far my drip tips haven't bothered me yet but I wouldn't be surprised of they did

Same here, Nickel allergy in jewelry. I've yet to have an issue with my drip tips, but then again its not in my mouth for very long at any given time.
Perhaps delrin drip tips would be a solution if this issue ever presents itself.

I get that once in a while from SS drip tips, might be because I usually haven't washed them before use, but yeah, nic can burn also, wiped some into my eye once, no picnic.

Try running more VG... Heavy PG fluids made my throat sore till I started running 50/50 +

Liquid is 50/50 and my tips are the same ones I've used from the beginning 6 month ago, so I'll still put this down to a sensitivity against the nic for now. But thanks everyone for there input.
