Afaik no. It does provide something called “throat hit” though which is more or less an irritation of the throat. There are other ways to produce it though.

I desperately implore you not to start vaping nic if you aren’t a smoker trying to quit cigarettes.
Nicotine in general is a very bad idea. Basically every person on this site wishes they never came across the stuff.

Hi guys so I’ve read several times that eliquid that has nicotine is more flavorful than 0 nic eliquids. Is this true? And if so why? I vape only 0 nic so I don’t have a comparison between nicotine juices.

Hi CharolettePeach. Welcome to the ECF.

It kinda depends on what the Flavor of you e-Liquid is. And, of course, the Nicotine that is used to make the e-Liquid.

I have some Recipes that can Benefit from the Taste of Nicotine. And I have others, mainly Fruit Mixes, that will taste the Best at 0mg.

Much of the Nicotine that is used in the Average Retail e-Liquid does have Some taste. So in Retail e-Liquids, you might Notice a Difference if you try a 0mg Flavor.

But if you do DIY, using a High End Nicotine Base that is almost Tasteless, not so much.

I made a couple of 0mg mixes while waiting for more nicotine to arrive - no difference in taste for me at all. I certainly don't find nicotine makes ejuice more flavourful.

Nicotine just adds a very slight throat hit and keeps me calm so I don't kill people :D

And herein is why nicotine is an issue and why you don’t want any part of it if you can avoid it. Nicotine is a major anti-anxiety drug and one of the fastest acting ones that exists. And ALL of the anti-anxiety drugs are addictive. It is trouble you don’t want to borrow.

Thank you everyone for the replies. No worries I have zero plans to switch to nicotine containing juices. I have seen first hand how difficult of an addiction that is to break. So yes I am one of those people that got into vaping despite never having smoked cigarettes but it relaxes me despite no nicotine and prevents me from doing bad habits such as biting my nails, picking the skin around my nails or picking at my face. The focus on a deep breath in and out can help if I’m feeling anxious and then the nice smells filling my room help too. Sorry for the long tangent there.

Again thanks for the clarification. I remember several people saying the nicotine helps the flavor and I couldn’t understand why. I could understand it altering the flavor but in my mind couldn’t think of how nicotine would make it taste better. Glad to know I’m not missing out and that I must just be really picky when it comes to flavors

The majority of people who vape, do so because they were once smokers and vape because it is a harm reduction method to take in the chemical they are addicted to --- nicotine.

Basically, these former smokers are looking for ways to best replicate the taste and feel of smoking. Nicotine plays an important part in replicating that smoking experience. However, if you never smoked before and are not addicted to nicotine, then why vape with e-liquids that contain nicotine?

Nicotine has more or less a peppery taste which provides what's called the "throat hit", that kick in the back of the throat one gets while smoking or vaping. Therefore, in most cases a liquid will taste a bit different with and without nicotine present while vaping.

Yes vaping with nic is addictive but not necessarily dangerous compared to vaping with no nic. Imo, in the future, when they can pinpoint the potential problems vaping causes it wont be just nic juice, but also no nic juice...what I'm saying is that vaping no nic juice is not addicting, but it's not entirely safe either, as you still are inhaling things not really meant to be. I'm sure you already know this, but I do think some that start vaping think as long as there is no nic in the juice it cant hurt you.....still perhaps better then destroying your face and skin

Oh yes for sure I am not naive and realize there could be some harm done but thank you for stating that because I know there are people out there that think it’s totally harmless. I will say I try to limit how much I vape, plus I smoke other things that are probably more damaging :\. I hear people talking about going through 5 or more mls a day and their premade coils only lasting at most a week and I’m sitting here like mine last over a month lol cuz I’m not a daily chain vaper
