I am still buying liquids from vendors and one of my favorite vendors does a very flavorful french vanilla. When I first purchased a 10 ml bottle, I ordered it with 0 mg of nicotine. This time around I ordered it with 18 mg of nicotine because I am just not ready to give up the nicotine yet. They supposedly use unflavored nicotine so I don't know what could have changed the flavor unless it was going from "some VG 15%" to "extra VG 40%". I stayed with their "strong flavor" not the "very strong flavor" since I like to use this by itself. A lot of the other vendors recommend a 50/50 mix but this company does not offer that. Could that be the problem instead of the nicotine? I don't know.

Going from 0 to 18 mg nicotine will definitely change the flavor of your eliquid.

Nicotine naturally imparts a bit of a "peppery" taste, usually not noticeable as such, as well as most of the TH in a juice.

What level of nic are you trying to reach?

If you find the 18mg offputting, keep mixing in the 0% until you get the flavor you like. :)

Eventually I want to be off of nicotine completely but I was a 1 to 1 1/2 pack a day smoker. I think I may have been hoping for a miracle by starting at 6 mg for the first order of juice period and then going down to 0 mg! Maybe 18 mg is too much so I can go for a 12 mg maybe? I could buy some more of the 0 mg juice and just mix it until it is gone and then order a 12 mg and see how that works.

In answer to OP's question the answer is yes in the most part and as EleanorR mention above it is often a peppery taste and even though many vendors state that they use unflavoured nicotine, you will still taste it if you're used to nic free juice. Steeping often helps mellow the pepper flavour out but it will take longer the higher the VG ratio in the juice and the higher the nic percentage. Leave the cap off for 24 hours and then shake the bottle like your life depends on it for 30 seconds twice a day. Try the juice again after a week and if it's still tasting weird then continue for another week. This is something that i have experienced with Quacks Juice Factory juices that are 100% VG and doing the above sorts them out after about a fortnight.

Fox, order or self blend a bottle of 10-18 unflavored liq. I have tried 4 different nic suppliers and they all have tasted a bit different and one peppery but in a tongue tingling way. The strait VG and a clean Nic at about 12% is actually a good tasting vape. I tried it for an experiment and now use it frequently. It provides a nice break for my taste buds and my coils love it too. I think it helps keep my morning coffee neutral as well. For you it could also be used to beef up the nic content in the 0% batch that you love. A good VG/Nic base added to a delicious Eliq shouldn't impart flavor, just adds throat hit and mutes your flavor. Experiment with it and have fun.

Ok I ordered another bottle of the French Vanilla with 0 mg of nicotine to mix with the 18 mg nicotine bottle. I guess I also care less about the amount of vapor vs the flavor so instead of going 60/40 PG/VG I went with their default of 75/15 PG/VG. I am hoping I am understanding the whole PG/VG thing. I do like the vapor as it simulates the smoke but do like a good flavor. However, I have a sweet tooth so the VG is supposed to be the one that helps with the sweetness? I did order some marshmallow flavoring as well as I have read here that it does sweeten up juice so if the juice is not sweet enough for me, I can add a drop or more to the 10 ml bottle.
