does oxidizing the SS mesh make it non conductive?

I haven't tried but i see people building the coils touching the mesh and the mesh is touching the base plate of what ever rba they are using but not shorting it out.


so does oxidizing the mesh make it non conductive? or is the conductivity degraded that it takes the path of least resistance and just go through the coil?
