yeah i use ni-mh rechargeables tat saythey re 1.2 , but fully charged they all measure around 1.6 , even after two days , they are still above 1.2 ... i use 3 of them in a 4AA box from rat shack with the 4th position removed for connector. if i was to do it again ,i would run 4AA's , and i have been seeing some 1800ma AAA's , so the next one will be a 4AAA bx.

i have been using the on/off switch that comes with the box, and other than the damn thing leaking everywhere , it has worked flawlessly. today i seem to be having some issues , but i didnt put a vent clos to my atty , an the vent hole on the atty is inside the box , so i get a lot of moisture that collects and drains out the switch.

next time i will either put the atty hole out of the box , or put a small vent hole close by.

i run 901 atty;s by the way

I did the two AA box with the connector glued into one end and a 3A pushbutton switch with the built in switch as a master. I only have to have one 14500 battery that way. I did get some TI 5volt regulators but never ended up making any five volt boxes. I can understand using the regular batteries though. That way you can pick up batteries anywhere.

I have been vaping for about 5 months now and just started using Snus in addition. The reason is I still seem to be missing something that I must have been getting from the burning effect of Tobacco. I have read very vague references to the thought that burning tobacco may create MAOI's and alkoloids (?), neither of which I know much about, which combat the depression and anxiety, but nothing with substantial authority. (Stubbs: If you have some links, I would greatly appreciate it!!)

After years of smoking regular cigarettes, the e-cig completely removed any desire for smoking and fully satisfied my nicotine cravings, but it always seems that about 3 to 4 weeks after stopping regular cigarettes, I feel depressed and anxious. I have switched back to cigs and it goes away in a week or so (which infuriates me because I DON'T WANT TO SMOKE).

I'm now trying out Snus (General White) to see if I can get these added benefits without the cigs. (still love my vaping, though). I have done some searches here and on the net, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of research into the MAOI/Alkoloid benefits of smoking tobacco or whether this "benefit" still works with Snus. I am hopeful that it might.

I am slowing becoming convinced that I am one of those people who have multiple demons to conquer in quitting tobacco cigarettes completely. It's very disheartening, since I love being able to actually breath and not "cough up a lung" every morning!

If anyone has any info on this issue (MAOI's and Snus), I would appreciate a link!

    Thanks,
    Rich

You may be somewhat mistaken in your approach. You're kind of looking at it backwards. First off it is not the burning of tobacco that creates the other alkaloids. They're already in tobacco. Burning it just makes it available when the smoke is inhaled. What is happening with e-liquid is that in the process of extracting the nicotine from tobacco the rest of the alkaloids are discarded (or whatever they do with it). They purposely extract just the nicotine for e-liquid and for that matter nicotine gum and patches. They all use the same type of fragmented approach.

The difference in smokeless tobacco as in snus is the tobacco is never fragmented. It's a whole tobacco product. Of course it's processed to keep the toxins very low. So.... Yes, snus has what's missing from e-liquid. Read up on DVap's blog to get a more detailed in-depth idea of what's going on. Many people in the smokeless section have gone through the same type of thing you are. The e-cig seems to work fine for the first 3 or 4 weeks.... and then the problems start. As of last count, without exception, with the addition of snus the depression disappears and we feel.... normal again. That's certainly what happened for me.

I concur that snus has something I was missing with just using my PV's I have had a real bad case of depression and anxiety since quiting almost 2 years ago , and have been trying to pin it down without going to the Dr to get prescribed some nasty pharma crap that will mess me up worse . I have just really started to snus this past month and I have noticed I'm thinking more clearly and my depression and anxiety have just vanished I hate being addicted to anything but if I can make it work and live happy and avoid cigs I'm all for it

Tommygun, as I read your post, it sounded exactly like something that I wrote when I first started using snus. I still remember the day I tried my first snus portion. It was like I was standing in a dark room and someone turned on the light. Vaping alone did not do well for me and I felt myself sinking into depression about 8-9 weeks after vaping alone. I still vape some but snus and snuff do most of the work for me. I think the vaping for me is more of a physical thing.

Finally, a discussion on attempting to get those other alks. into your liquid-

New research could lead to improved e-liquid with greater efficacy

Good find roth. kinabaloo wrote that after the completion of the WTA testing and summed up his argument for its manufacture, which I agreed with wholeheartedly at the time. Unfortunately it's still dead in the water, but I think it's a good link for all vapers to click on. Maybe if enough folks read it and understand there's a better alternative to what's currently available, it'll be a call to action. And maybe I'll get to use my pitchfork on a politician :).

Very interesting read in that link and possibly the reason the ecigs just never did cut it for me. I found that they eventually made me want to smoke. They mimic smoking so closely and all the while are missing something, so even if I went months without a cigarette, I eventually found myself jonesing for one.

Anyways, I quit ecigs and eventually quit smoking cigs. I did it with the use of the patch but I still get a couple serious cravings a day, so that's where snus helps me. Just 2 or 3 times a day and I feel just great. So I'd have to say the snus has whatever is missing from current eliquids.

I finally picked up a thing of Camel snus. I tried it tonight, and well... I ended up smoking cigarettes. I think I'm going to keep trying with the snus though, tomorrow.

Does this thing really have MAOI's? Or do we actually need to -burn- the tobacco to release or create these things... because all the stuff I have ever read online about MAOI's was talking about how tobacco smoke itself has them...

I know some of you say snus was awesome and helped you truly quit analogs...

But are you truly happy? Do you ever want an analog? Does snus help with the MAOI's/alkaloids in terms of not feeling depressed and all that?

Hell ya they do... I totally quit with no problems with Swedish Snus.. Not camel!!! The American brands do not have enough nicotine to help you successfully quit smoking.. Plus they suck.. Hey.. If any of you guys or gals are in Arizona and need some Real Swedish Snus beside General let me know and I will hook you up with a sample for free...
