Yes flavor is effected. I find high VG provides a smoother, less harsh vape. I found high PG to harsh for me, now I mix at 70-80% VG. Finding one's preferred ratio is one of the most frustrating things about vape. I'll bump up my flavor percentage to increase flavor when necessary. Will mix at 9-14% flavor extract, depending on the recipe.

I ordered the 50/50 from Mt. Baker. What do you mean by steeping? Is that like letting wine age? How long should it steep before using it?

Yes; steeping is like letting wine age.

Steeping time varies from a few days to a few weeks depending on the complexity of the flavors.
When you order eliquid made to order where they mix if for you on the spot, you need to give it time to steep before use.
When you get your Mt Baker stuff, I think you will see on the label a "Born On" date; I think that is the time the liquid was mixed.
