Does this look like a good mod starter kit?

First of all, I am on a super tight budget, but I really really wanna get into dripping and having a mechanical mod. So I want opinions on this list, and if anything else should be suggested. Thank you!

Smart Double Battery Charger for 26650 - $7
2 Authentic MNKE 26650 30A-60A - $16.49
Kanthal Wire 26 Gauge 100ft - $6.50
Patriot Omega Nimbus *Drilled* - $14.99 (Open to suggestions)
Hades Clone by Tobecco - $31.50
510 ohm Reader Meter - $10.99

I am deadset on the Hades because of the 26650, but any other suggestions, or any other ways I can get my price a little lower?

If you are going to use a mech mod you definitely need a GOOD charger. A $7 no-name charger is not recommended.

Per Baditude (our resident battery expert): "Get the best charger that you can reasonably afford. Statistically most battery incidents occur while charging. Pila, xtar, and Nitecore Intellicharger are the most recommended brands."

The above quote came from his blog post Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?

These batteries are recommended for the Hades Clone by Tobecco is what I have heard, and by wicking do you all mean cotton? I was just going to use a cotton ball, is there anything else recommended for that?

Also I will look into the getting the Intellicharger by Nitecore.

I ordered the Hades Clone already, should I order my batteries next so I can use my iClear 30 on the mod until I eventually get the rest of the parts? Maybe charger after I get the battery? Then a RDA/RBA?

Also, can you buy Kanthal at a hardware store? If so how much have you all seen it go for price wise?

Organic cotton balls (from your local grocery/walmart/target) will work fine.

Nitecore is a good choice. No, you cannot get Kanthal at a hardware store. Check out Lightening Vapes. They carry all different gauges and lengths of wire. They also carry the Nitecore charger as well as a host of other items for rebuilding. Free standard shipping.

Amazon.com also sells lightning vapes kanthal which I've found has faster shipping!

Also I would get some 28 gauge wire as well. 24 is VERY thick and you may have trouble learning how to build coils with it. 28 is just thick enough to be able to sub-ohm as well as hit a sweet spot between 1-2ohm's. Also easy to bend and play with.

I would get some better batteries and for around $15 you can get a nitecore on amazon as well.

Make sure you have some scissors, nail clippers, cotton (100% organic), wire, 1/16, 3/32, and 5/64 drill bit, precision screwdrivers, etc. You want to have all your tools ahead of time, if you order online you can generally save money and pick exactly what you want rather than settling for something less at a hardware store and paying more.

Let me know if you want my number, can always text and ask me questions anytime!

  • The MNKE batteries are good batteries. (IMR high-drain, safe-chemistry, high-amp batteries). They are only a 20 amp continuous discharge rate though, not 30 amps.

  • The Nitecore Intellicharger is a good choice. It's what I currently use. I purchased my batteries and chargers from RTD Vapor.

  • The cotton you get should be "organic cotton" and say so on the bag. Other cotton, including 'sterile' cotton could have hydrogen pyroxide or bleach in it and require boiling before vaping it.

  • Most any e-cig supply store sells Kanthal. I get mine either from my local vape shop or RTD Vapor.

  • You'll need an ohm reader and a voltage meter. The Omnitestor does both in one device.

  • You'll need a precision screwdriver set and stainless steel tweezer to make your coils. A mini butane torch is very helpful to anneal your wire and microcoils.

For a charger xtar or the efest luc charger would be a better choice and you can see your current voltage and can adjust charging speeds, a $7 charger doesn't seem safe. Also a 26650 mod is 28mm in diameter, so buying a standard size rda is going to look akward especially a nimbus, the authentic nimbus is 21 mm wide and clones are 22 mm and some are even smaller being 20 mm.

As far as using mnke 26650 are you sure it's a 30 amp continuous, the ones I've seen are 20 amp continuous with a 60 amp pulse. The amps will make a difference depending on how low your build is and how low you plan to go.

As always, more good advice from Baditude, the only thing I want to add is that "organic cotton" may have hydrogen peroxide. I have a bag from CVS and it says whitened with hydrogen peroxide.

When exposed to air, hydrogen peroxide evaporates. Just open up the bag to breathe for 24 hours and you're good to go.

Wow, thanks for the help!

Also, I seen someone say that the Nimbus RDA will look funky on the Hades, and I actually realized that after looking into the Hades more the other night. It has a 28mm diameter, so I need a 28mm diameter RDA/RBA. I was looking into the TOBH clones by Tobecco. Anyone have any opinions on these?

Other 28mm diameter RDA/RBA are open to suggestions. Please share experiences so I can have a better pick on my selection.
