.8 sounds correct for 28AWG

What is your goal resistance?

To get it higher, you'll either need to go with more wraps, or step down the size of the wire to 30 or 32. 5 wraps of 32 will get you around 2.2-2.4 Ohms. 5 wraps of 30 will get you around 1.4-1.6

Just remember, the thicker the wire (Lower AWG numbers), the lower the resistance. Wire size is inversely related to the numbering system used. For simplicity, the higher the gauge number the higher resistance coil it's going to make...

Found following numbers for Kanthal wire some time ago. Don't remember the source tho.
Probably compiled from tables taken here, e.g.: Kanthal Wire 28 Gauge RW0117 - 50 FT 0.31oz Series A-1 Resistance AWG

28 AWG 0.439 (Ω/inch)
30 AWG 0.696 (Ω/inch)
32 AWG 1.091 (Ω/inch)

Edit: Added link to TEMCo 28 AWG Kanthal A-1 wire.

Thanks for the link! Their prices on resistance and non resistance wire are fantastic :) Glad I looked in this post now... Although this place is probably well known by now, first time I have seen them!
