I've become pretty convinced deer flies like VG. I've taken to using repellent for the first time in my life. I'm not allergic to mosquitoes (they bite me but I don't get any welts or itchiness from them... I'm among the lucky few) and for whatever reason, chiggers and noseeums just leave me alone. So, I've never used repellent... Until I started vaping and the deer flies decided I must taste good. Now, nothing short of Sawyer 100% Deet or 20% Picardin keeps them off me. And, I do mean that. The regular box store rattle cans of "off" or "cutter" or whatever just aren't up to the task. 100% deet when I'm not using or wearing anything synthetic, and 20% picardin for when I have to touch any nylon or plastic gear. The Deet lasts longer between applications, but it eats plastic. The picardin is supposedly better for ticks and such, but has to be reapplied more often.

Depends on where you're at. The critters down South will run away like little screaming girls if you look at them funny. Here up North they just laugh and take a bite out of any exposed flesh. (Then they lift your wallet).

I'd rather be picked up and carried away by a northern mosquito than taken down by a bunch of southern chiggers any day! Those little armed SOBs are my nemesis.

I've found here in the woods that it depends on the juice. The bees seem to really like the butterscotch but no one likes my peppermint.

This is what we deal with down here: Screen Shot 2014-06-30 at 4.15.22 PM.jpg

I don't know if vaping attracts insects, I do know that when I was a smoker, cig smoke repelled insects. Now that I vape, I have as many around me as my hubby always has. I still have the habit of blowing vape at them like I used to do with smoke. They don't go away :(

This is so true! And likely the one and only thing I miss about smoking. Unfortunately (or not) it kept most people away too.

That's a good question, it'd make sense that it does...

The mosquitoes here on the Texas Gulf Coast will carry off small children *lol*

they normally don't bother me, but on the 4th of July we took a Ferry over to another island and they were swarming and I got bit and that's not happened in decades.

*images of putting a chamber together and bugs in one and seeing if they're attracted is running through my mind* lol* I know the Ant's sure are attracted to the ejuice but it kills them dead (lovely nicotine) :p

I haven't ever thought about vaping being the reason behind me being uncharacteristically covered in bug bites. But I began sleeping with screens out of windows (my drunk roommates often remove their screen and my girlfriend's screen is broken ) right about when I started vaping. Could be a connection... And I know dragonflies flock to me but I always figured I just look like a flower because of the bright sunny colors I wear. Lol.

I found I was getting gnats in my computer room. I keep a passthrough ecig in a pen holder at my computer desk with clearo ready to use most times but don't keep it plugged in. Never had the problem before but down south here bugs are everywhere. So I started putting one of those carto caps over the mouth piece and haven't had problems since. By the way if you have a gnat problem sit a bowl of water with a tablespoon of dawn and about a half cup of apple cider vinegar mixed frothy in the area. The gnats love it and when they get in the foam they drown, lol.
