Well after reading all the CC fraud threads on ECF I decided to run a "WhoIs" search on all the vendors I use.

When I did this on OneStopDIYShop.com it lists domainsbyproxy.com -- what is up with that?? This doesn't instill a lot of confidence in your site.

I have made an order with you, DIY and got what I ordered and my CC was NOT hacked and I was/am a happy customer but was wondering about this as I don't want to go through all the bull associated with a CC issue.

Is a host site just like godaddy.com the difference is that you cant see the owners personal Info.

Did you need DIYshop's Full name and home address for some reason?
All they are doing is covering their tails....cause putting it all out there is just as dangerous for them as it is for me and you.

No I don't need their personal info -- just checking and seeing what they say about it. All these CC fraud threads have gotten me paranoid. I guess I'm sort of old school. You have all my personal info -- why can't I have yours ?? Sort of like when a pretty check out girl asks for my phone number then I want hers in return :2cool:

I only use 2 e-cig/supply vendors -- Modern Vapor for my PV supplies and DIY for my juice supplies. I want to keep it that way.

So please don't take this thread as me being an upset or unsatisfied customer -- cause I think you are the best for DIY supplies (I did my research). Just looking into things.

No offense but I would not want people to have my personal information if I was a vendor. They have contact information on the site and that should suffice.

I have seen people on this forum who I would consider horrible customers, I know of two who keep posting about another vendor trying to trash the vendors rep for no reason. One of them ordered crappy custom mixes and demanded refunds.

Sorry but I would never want people like that having my home contact info, which is where many of these vendors operate from. If I don't like how a vendor operates I take my business elsewhere period.

Regardless this thread is a bit inappropriate, especially the "wtf" if you have concerns like this then mail or private message the vendor.

1st off have you ever checked this site -- They don't have proper contact information only a phone number and e-mail, no address listed.

Regardless this thread is a bit inappropriate, especially the "wtf" if you have concerns like this then mail or private message the vendor.

Well I agree the "WTF" might have been over the top -- so I went and tried to edit the original post and this forum software does not allow editing of the original thread name like other forums allow you to -- I tried.

But this is not an inappropriate thread. I did not post this in the open forum space. I posted this in a vendor area and plainly stated I had no real issues just wanted a clarification from the vendor of the the proxy domain issue and now that you mention it proper contact information should be supplied.

I don't know how "WhoIs" works but just maybe the P.O. Box as supplied on the packing list should be listed on the "WhoIs" as well as listed in the contact area of the website.

In the golden age of CC fraud -- asking the questions is NOT inappropriate -- those who do not ask are looking for trouble. If a vendor gets upset over someone asking the questions .................

I order from four vendors, and DIY is the only one who even suppliers a phone number. Second the whole point is irrelevant as they use Amazing as their CC processor so they do not even have let alone see your CC information. And yes having a personal issue that they should provide you with their home address and phone number is an inappropriate forum topic and should be left to an email message or a private message. I have seen this topic beat to death already in other vendor forums with the same result.

Anyways I'm done, not going to debate the issue in a thread that should of never been posted in the first place. Plus I am not DIY's spokesperson. :)

Hey ckreef,

Not to worry my friend, domainsbyproxy.com is who Go Daddy uses for private registrations. As others have mentioned in the thread, it's a way for domain owners to keep their registration information private. When you register a domain, you are required to enter in your phone number, address, first and last name, etc.

It's our way of protecting ourselves against whacko's out in the world who may use this information in a malicious way.

Here's the link on Go Daddy's site to information on private registration, if you would like to read it.

Private Domain Registration

Their description of Private Registration is this:
Private Registration shields your personal information from public view. Protects you from spam, scams, prying eyes and worse

That pretty much sums it up. It's a lot like using a PO Box instead of a business address, just added protection for the company.

I hope this helps gives you back some confidence!

TY for the responses RenaissancePuffer and Kimerpuff. I guess I just freaked out for a moment when I was doing a whois of all my different online vendors I use (e-cig and otherwise) and yours was the only one that came up like that.

I will continue to purchase from you especially after the thought full responses you 2 gave. Those and other responses have shed some light for me on this. I never really thought DIY itself would steal my info for bad purposes just was worried about the host/system you were using.

I have always had good things to say about DIY in other areas of this forum in the sort time since my original order with you.

Sorry for the "WTF" -- that was somewhat inapproiate of me and I tried to edit it out but this forum software won't let me.

Ckreef,
I hope the thread change is fitting :) please let me know if you would like the subject different.

We totally understand, its pretty scarey out there! Part of why we use third party payment services that have stood the test of time to protect our customers!

Thread change is kewl by me :2cool: -- TY for all your answers and your calm and professional responses, it goes a long way in instilling confidence. Hopefully if others read this thread it will alleviate any concerns they may have.

Maybe something good will come out of my crap .... thread.
