I am still new to the vaping community but have already spent way too much money going through several different set-ups, products and of course, trial and errors. The one thing I have come to discover that really bugs the crap out of me is this all self-fluffed and self-hyped little vendor called GotVapes. The sell nothing different that anyone else does but what they do is create an illusion that there are selling you something special and exclusive only to them and then bump the price up with a pretty little box. If you read the description of the "phoenix TC and BC" you will find a nice little spiel about how they went "back and forth with the manufacturer" and how they helped them improve the product with testing samples and giving feedback. That's total BS. All they are doing is selling you the very same products that any other vendor does, giving it a cute little name with some snazzy packaging, and then charging you more money. Sheisty buisnesses need to be exposed. They get away with doing this because people are uninformed so I felt the need to be someone who does some informing. Not buying from them will force them to make their business practices honest and fair.

i am with tramd, there are alot of companies that sell the same product with different names, look @ the lavatube for example:is been called the lrider, lavatube etc. the only thing that has changed is the logo!!now how do u know that the manufacturers of the bc and tc have not contacted a hand full of vendors to try to make there product better, possible no?someone has to try these b4 they get mass produced.and i think what got vapes does paying for there own packaging and naming things differently is neat, why not stand out.if they charge more maybe is a few cents or 1...i don't mind that, plus i rather buy from a store like got vapes then an unknown store just cause is cheaper, gotvqapes has great customer service.

...its called marketing?

It costs money to design and manufacture a package
It costs money to present items
Every vendor worth a damn does it, they're trying to set themselves apart from others

Really dude? What is the smokeless image volt other than a rebranded kr808d? This is what companies do, how is this new to you?
I agree for the most part, but unlike most others the volt batteries are sealed and they don't gouge you.
There are a couple of other vendors that sell the same or similar battery (sealed & regulated KR808), but the one's I've found charge more and don't have the customer service that SI has. That "value add" has generated a deserved loyality from their customers.

Wow, slamming a vendor with your first post.

I've had no problems with GotVapes. Sometimes their items cost a few bucks more, but I find they are usually pretty reliable. And I agree with the point that marketing and packaging does cost money. You can order things direct from China - from Health Cabin or even Alibaba, and take your chances and wait for shipping. But I like dealing with a vendor that ships quickly, is around when problems occur, and who stands behind their product. It also costs money to inventory product and not just drop ship.

My wife has written permission to kick me square in the nuts if I ever waste another dime on anything from Gotvapes.com. I have had nothing but bad merchandise from them.

I don't mind them hyping up new products. I don't think it is right to have paying customers do your testing for you. They always "drop bombs" that turn out to suck after they hit the market and actual users get their hands on them.

I know that a lot of people will disagree with me but I don't think I should have to "mod" anything to get it to work right. Whether its the Fluxo's or anything else, it should work right out of the box. Again, just my opinion.

Many companies do this and not only in this type of business. It's how companies in any business "get ahead". Sometimes it works and other times it does't. There not trying to "trick" you there just trying to stand out. As long as they offer a good product and really do back it up then I say go for it. Yes it might cost a small amount more but persoanlly I'd rather pay for something and have the CS to back up what they market. Just my 2 cents, I do agree there are times when it does go overboard with some companies and you do have to watch out.

You can find CE3's cheaper, but a couple of bucks is far from the incredible gouging that some sites offer.
Their shipping is excellent, and they have a good reputation for customer service. The owners frequent their ECF forum section and help their customers out.

So yes, they do re-brand and market some items, and if you're a bargain hunter you can save a couple of bucks shopping elsewhere, but they are FAR from a scam site preying on unsuspecting newbees like many other sites out there.

My understanding is that Gotvapes works with the manufacturers first and introduces revisions that are then also sold by other vendors. GV has started an Alpha program for folks on the forum to test new products before they are released, to hopefully avoid all of the many versions of clearos, etc. out on the market (Is it a Stradust2 or a CE4? Is it rebuildable? short or long wicks? holy %#@*.) Many vendors put their name on chinese goods, I like the way Gotvapes names their stuff because I can be sure of which model I'm getting. With Gotvapes I'm still confused, but far less so, I appreciate all of the work they do.

ETA: I have ordered from them twice and had my package in 2 days (each with a little piece of candy - flavored tootsie rolls). The last cheap carton of boges I got from another vendor did not have ohms marked on the generic carton, my pheonix boxes from GV are always marked.

I don't think so cuz a vendor I know had the SD V2 first. Healthcabin also had them before Gotvapes. Have never ordered from Gotvapes as they are too expensive. All these companies (Gotvapes is not the only one) are doing is marketing 101 and it makes it really tough for new vapers to truly research these items.

I'm sorry, I was speaking in terms of US vendors, I should have been clear. Certainly Chinese companies are getting the new stuff to market first. I think GV is more concerned with quality control than the various drop shippers, and they back it up with great customer service. I usually see US vendors carrying the new GV items after they are introduced. I'm not a fangirl, but I like the company a lot. I also really like Crystal Clear Vaping, electronicstixs, and a few others.

Actually, if a company cannot stand on it's own TWO FEET, that is it's products and services, without the Hype of a Marketing Campaign and general Salesmanship though the Supply Channels then more often than not they have a Poor under-performing Product.

It seems a few of us here have came out of the woodwork to Gripe about this company.

I'm all for advertising a great product that works the way it is suppose to.

I was looking at their website earlier to get a kit for my father who really wishes on burning down the house we live in. Due to the experiences here I will not be buying from them.

Try Joye eGo | Joye 510 | Electronic Cigarette supplies Tulsa | Batteries, atomizers, cartomizers, e-Liquid and more! and Welcome to MadVapes LLC I trust both of these vendors. I also hear good things about healthcabin and cignot on prices.

As for a newbie trap... I would say only that is the buyers responsibility to do the research or pay the price. It does however reflect badly on the vendor to operate with prices too high on comparable products in the marketplace and it does play out after time and great forums like ECF.

I personally really like got vapes. I have gotten the same products from other vendors and they aren't the same. I love trying new things and got vapes always has new cool stuff to try. I don't think they are trying sucker in newbies at all. They are offering exciting new products. No one eles has the vivi nova 2.5 and it doesn't get much better than that except the mini 2ml coming out.
Maybe you should do some research before ordering and bashing a company on your first post. jmo

I think some people need a reminder that this industry is VERY young and developing at warp speed.

There are risks involved with being an early adopter and if you want the latest and greatest and want it NOW…you will occasionally get burnt. Problems with items such as stardust’s are not vendor specific and are relatively cheap so when I take the risk on trying one that just came to market and find that it didn’t perform to my expectations I don’t get too upset.

For those that have no stomach for products that you may have to fiddle around with, I suggest you wait 6 months to a year for the kinks to be worked out, or stick to something tried and true like an Ego and Boge’s.
