There's more than meets the eye, see my prior post. Why did the FDA not pursue the CC companies too? And if they did, why is it still OK to buy everything under the e-cig sun with CC? Furthermore, are e-cigs and supplies purchased from non-USA vendors safer and why did Paypal not reject them?

The FDA didn't go after paypal, ASH did - and issued kind of a veiled threat about a lawsuit. ASH can't sue paypal for transactions outside the US ;)

There may very well be more to it than that - all I can go on is what's been published.

My bad, I stopped halfway down your post, before ASH was mentioned. Do you know if ASH went after the CC companies? Why can't ASH sue Paypal for transactions outside the US, but with US consumers? I still don't trust the lawsuit excuse, not doubting you of course. :)

IANAL but I guess it'd be tough suing paypal for a non-US transaction - but maybe not. I'm sure there are attorneys here, maybe one of them can chime in.

I figure paypal just got skeered by ASH and figured it wasn't worth the trouble. I don't figure they're gonna reverse their policy now that the FDA's been slapped down.

How ironic that a department ostensibly intended to protect public health, doesn't see the value of these products. No one can say that e-cigarettes are completely risk-free, but it defies common sense to imagine that e-cig vapor is anything but much less dangerous than the witch's brew of carcinogenic chemicals in analog smoke. The FDA should be promoting safer nicotine delivery systems, not trying to ban or regulate them out of existence.

Putting on my own tinfoil hat, e-juice is the only nicotine product *not* regulated by the FDA - I kinda wonder if it wasn't Big Tobacco behind the FDA's actions.

Agreed, but the government is broke and wants money. I've wandered OT I think, sorry, OP.

No problem at all! I find it very fascinating, and enjoy the conversations that occur here. It's not too far OT though; somewhat behind why PP won't allow e-cig traffic. :)

Odd that Amazon didn't cave.

I thought they did? When I first looked into e-cigs, I tried to find them on Amazon, and there were some listed, but they were all unavailable with a notice that Amazon didn't sell them anymore. Not that the few reviews that had been there were favorable for them, or anything.

Maybe I didn't look hard enough.

I quoted the entire page so people wouldn't have to go there but the thing was posted Aug 2009.

The FDA had to back off - but that doesn't mean paypal has to :(

If paypal was actually in any real danger if they allowed sale of e-cigs/vaporizers and related products, then VISA and Mastercharge would have the same problem. And I see nothing to make me think that any of the major credit card companies are refusing to do business with e-cig companies.
