Don't understand resistance ratings.

I have been using CE2s rated at 2.6-2.8 ohm and they produce great vapour at 3.2v.

Recently I got 2.5ohm dual coils and they are struggling to produce vapour at 4.7v, not to mention my batteries drain extremely fast.

my multimeter tells me my CE2s are actually 3.3ohm and the dual coils 3.9ohm.

What's am I doing wrong?

Are you removing any meter bias error? Set the meter to its lowest ohms scale, touch the leads directly together; any value displayed must be subtracted from other measurements.

meter bias is 0.6. ah. i've re-measured them. so yea, they are correct as rated.

am DCs supposed to run at double the voltage of a SC?

my main complain is that the DCs need to be at a much higher voltage and is still struggling to produce decent vapour.

also, the protection circuit keeps kicking in (it auto-cuts after holding down for about 10 secs)

First off lets take the DC,,, a 1.5ohm DC is actually going to meter in at 3ohm ,and on the CE2's they vary at times, there never usually all the same, they should be with in + or - .2 hope that helps,, sounds like you got some that are a bit off of spec.

my DCs are rated at 2.5 (+/- 0.2 ohm). how much are they actually? how much voltage should be sufficient to get it producing some clouds? 4.7v is fair for me but it drains my 900mah battery within half an hour

you should be able to run that 2.5dc at least 5V up to 6v to get a better vape out of it for sure,,, and I would be using that 2.5DC on a more serious Mod and Batt set up with much higher mAh then the 900, Like a AW 18650 2250mAh IMR in a provari, or on a dual Batt config even like in a Buzz Mod. The DC will drain your Batts quicker since they draw a higher Amp. Try what I', telling you, otherwise ya it will drain a single 900 pretty quickly, more then a half hour though I would say, sounds like your not running an AW Batt to me as well, dont wast money on cheap Batts there not worth the material there made of, just my 2c

Oh and your 2.5ohm DC Carto, will probably meter in around 4-4.4ohm on your meter since there is 2 coils in reality it should meter in at double the 2.5 ohm @5 but they usually come in a little lower, and its also why you can crank up the voltage more, and also why they are draining your Batts quicker there drawing more Amps,,, hope that helps ya out a bit

Minor correction, a healthy dc should meter the dc rating. For instance a 2.5 dc should read 2.5, not 5

would the puck mod at 4.8v with 4 nimh AAs would work fine?

4.7v off my 900mah V.V. batt is fair enough. they just die too quickly.

the puck mod with eneloops should give 8000mah.!

(in the meantime i am reading up on batt mods and .. breaking out in sweat. HAHA. just sayin.)
