I used vaping to quit smoking a while back, and was cigarette free for about 5 months. I thought i was over the hump so I decided to downgrade to the cigarette sized batteries and reduced my nic level to 18mg's. I sold my Provari to a guy at work, and thought the smaller ecigs would be enough.

BIG MISTAKE!!!

I took a drag of my wife's cigarette one day, and next thing I knew I was at WaWa buying a pack. Within a month or so I was back up to 2 to 3 packs a day.

I started vaping again recently and got an iTaste SVD, and a Z-Max V3 as a backup. Started wheening myself back down from 2 to 3 packs a day to 4 cigarettes a day within the last 2 or 3 months, and have been at 4 a day for going on 2 weeks now.

This time I am not going to sell my MOD or reduce my nic level...:)

Four cigarettes a day was my jump-off point. That's where I decided to quit the cigarettes entirely and rely on vaping. After three days the worst of the withdrawals were over. After a week I started feeling better.

Four cigarettes a day are a lot better than two or three packs a day. If you need to hold smoking at that three or four a day it's still a big gain over what you were doing. The risk is that it's so easy to sneak in those additional cigarettes and start backsliding.

Yes, great work on the comeback. Many moons ago I learned that it only takes 1 cigarette to return to smoking. I've had a few temptations in the past 2 months, the strongest a few nights ago when I couldn't sleep due to coughing. I was pretty sure a cigarette would take care of that as it has in the past.

Instead I vaped, cough went away and fortunately hasn't happened again.

When weak moments come around, stay strong and always realize the strength of the analogs..... They're only out there to tempt and then get you hooked again!

when that urge to smoke an analog rears its ugly head remember it only lasts a short while. perhaps you could work on holding off that first cig of the day and see where it takes you. good luck. here is my little story

I had not smoked in a year. I was under a lot of pressure at work and one morning felt I could not go in if I didn't first smoke a cig. went to the store and bought a pack. smoked two before work and one at each of 3 breaks. they tasted so bad and were so unsatisfiying I turned to a friend, handed him the pack and said get these F###ing things away from me. I know now the love affair is over, it just takes time.

It took me four years to quit entirely. The last year I smoked only two a day yet couldn't quit the first and last ones of the day.

The good news is that once I quit, about 13 months ago, I had no desire to smoke even one after that.

By the way, I'm still vaping 36 mg but have tried a few 25 mg batches and can't tell much difference. So the next step is to reduce the nicotine level. But I'm in no big hurry.
