Bookmarked for further reference! In other words it has been known for a considerable amount of time that its not the Nicotine that kills, its the smoke that kills! We all know this yet still the opposition. One would think the ANTI's would embrace an opportunity to eliminate almost all combustible cigarettes by supporting e-cigs. If we only had the support, imagine where our industry would actually be. I bet we would be at 3 to 4 billion a year in sales already.

But the antz have stopped trying to stop smoking. Now it tobacco they want to eliminate. Next (and their are signs of this already) they will move the campaign to nicotine.
This is seen as the first time a product control campaign has come close to eliminating their target. Remember this is a first campaign the next will be caffeine then back again to alcohol and on to salt sugar whatever.

It's not even about the nicotine. If it was determined that vaping cured all disease across the globe, the ANTZ's, funded by BP, would still want it stomped out because of what it looks like. It's just that simple.

wv2win ... is correct.
It's not about nicotine ... It's not even about "Save the Children"
ANTZ don't give a damn about Harm Reduction
They are all about Quit or Die ... and they don't care which.

All their hype about nicotine and children is just a smoke screen
to get the public fired up against e-smoking.

Those opposed to e-smoking constantly change their battle cries.
Years ago it was e-cigarettes contain anti-freeze ... They knew it was a lie
they didn't care ... after we blew that myth out of the water ...
they just came up with another cry story.

Every time they lie ... we have to go to work to prove they are lying.

It really dings me off that the ANTZ can lie with a full sense of immunity.
No real consequences if they lie. On the other hand ... We can't do the same.
We have to always be telling the truth. We can't even exaggerate a tiny bit.

Reminds me of Washington politics.

If we lie to the government its a Felony.
When the government lies to us ... it's Politics.

thanks for finding this AgentAnia, I came here to post an abbreviated version I found on Realclear Policy, but this had vastly more information and detail.
Changing the targeted outcome from nicotine/tobacco abstinence to smoking abstinence would permit ex-smokers to use alternative products at satisfying doses, indefinitely if they choose.
I'm particularly pleased to see this statement from Dr. Rodu. I would love to see a clinical study with various NRT and e cigarettes geared towards Smoking cessation rather than nicotine abstinence.

Besides the $$$, think of how many more smokers might already have switched or reduced their cigarette consumption without the ANTIs' negative campaigning.

Except it's a double-edged sword. Every piece of research and study report that offers proof of e-cigarettes as an effective smoking-cessation tool puts more ammunition in FDA's arsenal to regulate them as drugs (even absent a manufacturer's claims), IMO. I know they've been shot down before on this but wouldn't put it past them to try again. Think: puppy with a bone.

Just think of what the success rates might be if a clinical study worked with smokers the way that an endocrinologist works with patients who have hypothyroidism. Their progress is monitored, quite often at first. If they are still experiencing symptoms, their dose is increased. And once a person taking thyroid medication is functioning well, the doctor doesn't take away the medication!

That's the way the scientists ought to be thinking of managing nicotine maintenance.

But it doesn't really take a medical specialist to pull this off in the real world. All it takes is someone knowledgeable about hardware performance and nicotine strengths, as well as symptoms of nicotine overload, to coach someone who is motivated to quit smoking. The goal is to reach a point where the troublesome withdrawal symptoms disappear. After that, it's a done deal.

I recall Petrodus mentioning this before..... if we experienced vapers coached smokers when they make the transition (IE..hardware, nic content etc..) the quit rates would be through the roof!!

This is exactly what I would like to see. Rather than 12 weeks of NRT/E Cigarettes, and then abstinence, and checking to see how many are off the smokes, try NRT/Ecigarettes for 6 months, and see how many people have managed to stay off the smokes. I'll bet it makes 7% look like a joke.
