Hey Ian,
I've never had dreams about smoking, but I have had many diet restrictions placed on me (some voluntary and some not so much) in the past 8 years. At one point or another, I've been off of any kind of sugar, wheat/gluten products, dairy products, eggs, meat products, soy, nuts, and corn-- and many of those restrictions came 3+ at a time! I do know that every time I abstain from something even though I like it, I have dreams about stuffing my face with it. I'll dream for weeks and weeks about walking through a supermarket stuffing cookies and bacon and ice cream into my mouth, and it feels so good in the dream but then I wake up and feel guilty.

I think the important thing to remember is that you DIDN'T sneak into the basement and chain smoke. :) Your mind is trying to comfort itself by dreaming about cigs, but you're not actually doing it! Just like I'm not actually eating multiple KFC double downs in my sleep, you're not actually inhaling carcinogens by the mouthful in your sleep. :D Don't give the dreams any power over you and I find they usually go away on their own when they realize you won't give in.

This thread must have put bad thoughts in my head (not poetry I swear) because I had a dream last night that I had a cigarette.

How could I tell it was a dream? I actually liked the experience, lol. Had it been real life I would be making faces, coughing and reaching for my PV's. Oddly enough I didn't feel like I needed to "hide" that I was smoking in this dream but instead smoked it all in two puffs.

Very disturbing indeed, I think it was just a one time thing for me though.

I think that dreaming, or even just "wishing" we could have just one, reminds us of the strength of the addiction!

It was quite sobering actually. I have been vaping and not missing cigarettes for almost 2 years and suddenly have a dream about smoking. I did smoke for 15 years so it is probably just old memories at play or something.

I havnt dreamnt about smoking, but I used to dream about drinking. I am a recovered alcoholic of 12 years now, yay for me! But in my dreams, I am drunk sometimes and can't walk and panicked because I drank. I wake up all flustered.
Congrats Danesnpits. I'm sober 26 yrs. Haven't had any smoking dreams but in relation to drinking I've had two recurring dreams- one I awake in a garbage bin and the other I am drinking and can't remember where I parked my car. Not a pleasant way to awaken but it's a GREAT remember when.
Happy Vaping, Vapoor.

When I quit smoking, four years ago, I would dream of smoking and how enjoyable it was. I enjoyed every single puff in those dreams. When I woke up, I felt so bummed out about smoking again and then realized it was just a dream. I took up vaping this last spring because I missed smoking so much, but didn't want to go back to smoking. Vaping was the answer.

Hmm, it's funny, when I smoked I had a lot of dreams about smoking cigs and other things ;) but none so far since I've been using my PV. It could indicate an urge to smoke or maybe just your mind throwing out random stuff from your past. I've had dreams about random acquaintances that I haven't seen for over ten years, so I think it's pretty normal. Hopefully it's not giving you an urge to light up though. I think it's good that you felt guilty in your dream, deep down you do not want to go back to cigs :) You could interpret it in a freudian way, but I'll leave that up to you, e.g. oral fixations....

* I studied psychology for four years, so I may as well put my expensive degree to some use, lol, I'm still paying for it o_O

Well since I last posted in here I havent had another dream about smoking, but in my dream I felt like I cheated myself and I was severely disappointed in what I did. When I woke up and said thank god that was only a dream. I did feel fufilled in my dream, like I actually did have a cigarette, Hey if I can smoke a pack a day in my dreams and not in real life im up for that lol.

Ever since ive started vaping I have had dreams of smoking real cigs. in most of my dreams Iam sneaking and hiding it and I feel guilty doing it. Last night I had a dream I was building a house and hiding in the basement smoking one after the other crying that I was smoking. How long do these dreams last? I admit in the dream it feels pretty satisfying puffing away but I still want them to stop. Anyone else have these kinds of dreams?

yea i have a dreams of smoking too..that was from the 1st week i started vaping...and i said in my dream that " what? still smoking? wheres my volt? " and i knew that it was just a dream..so i just let it go and finish that 1 stick lol...but i can feel that even in my dreams i dont like to smoke anymore..dont like the taste..much better to have red gummy flavor lol...

anyway sometime i do really crave for 1 analog and light it up but when the time i think of the taste and smell..my craving will be gone..:)

I dream almost every night about smoking and vaping at the same time... It started around the 7 day mark... It's more of a tease. There was a quote from a movie... I forget the name. "you sell your waking life away for minimum wage, but when they invade your dreams you are theirs" I think that BT would be happy to hear about this...
