Hello all. I'm expecting an aga t2 in the mail shortly. I have been doing a lot of reading as this will be my first rba. It seems as though the ceramic wicks (FC-2000) are the way to go (according to reviews). However, I've read that only the 3/32 will fit in the AGA, but the manufacturers are no longer making that size wick. My questions would be: what would be the best size to bore the wick hole to fit the 1/8th wick? For those that have done it, how is the vapor/flavor compared to the stock sized wick hole? Lastly, if I were to bore out the wick hole, would I have to bore out the air hole as well? If so, what sized air hole?

Sorry for all the questions, just wanted some feedback before I mess anything up.

Hey i just did this to my agi. Drilled it out as the wick hole is far to small

first off 1/8 is .125'as decimal so if you are going to use 1/8 sized wick you need to drill the wick hole a little bigger than the wick soon it wont get choked off. I driled my agi oit to .128 that is only .003 larger than 1/8 but i set my gennys up with 3mm silica wicks so it works for me and i can just barley fit a 1/8 ss cable or mesh in there with a little play

if you are going to use strictly 1/8 or equivalent sized wicks i would recomend you drill the wick hole out to .130 that will give you .0050 fifty thousands of an inch of play over 1/8 or .125 should be enough to wick properly without being so big it leaks when tipped on its side. try that first if you need more you can go bigger but i would not drill over .135 as .010 or one hundredth of an inch bigger than your 1/8 .125 wick is IMHO big enough to wick properly and not leak when tipped on its side.

I use that same clearance .010
Iuse 3mm or .118 wick so i drilled my wick hole to .128 giving me .010 of clearance any more and it will leak any less and it affects wicking

so i guess measure your wick then add .010 then drill out to that
1/8 Nextel or xc is .1250 so drill out to .1350 to get your clearance. You may want to try .1300 first it cant hurt

sorry i dont use the metric system, all i use is the standard decimal system you will have to calculate the equivalent if you are using metric drill bits though one should have bolth.

Good stuff! can't wait to get home and drill that sucker

I made a setup using Ekowool but it just doesn’t wick.
