my experience with the PT2.....
I drilled the air holes out with 1/16 bit and it didn't make any difference
I found that if I left the tank loose on my SVD (or any battery) it would draw good, this really irritated me cause I had to leave the tank loose enough that it kind of wobbled on the mod

I picked up a Hcigar kayfun and will never go back to the PT2

I'm ordering an aerotank base for my pt II from kanger. 4.99 but they are out of stock. My trophy tank and t3s are good enough for now.

That should make it work great! My PT2 was useless until I got that base. Tight draw and leaked badly. I'm kind of surprised they even sell the PT2 with the original base.....it's basically faulty equipment. :(

I got mine from litecigusa.net They also had cheap prices on Mini PT2 bases, which will also fix the PT2.

Seems like the main problem with the pt2 now are the miserable grommets on the replacement coils blocking airflow. Not sure if this is their way of trying to get people to buy the pt3 buts it's ridiculous. I loved the pt2 until the newer coils came out. It did however entice me to get a kayfun and that is all I want to use now

I like the Aspire Nautilus method of putting the air holes above the knurled ring at the base. I just rotate a ring above that to expose one of four holes for optimum wicking and air flow. That's been adopted by several of the air flow tank makers and it's just the right way to do it.

Expecting threads to allow air flow through tiny holes in the Protank was wrong thinking, IMO. But, time and technology eventually has resulted in better products today. :)

No, Poor execution of Design is the issue. Original Protank and PT coils had plenty of air flow - often customers complained of to loose a draw. Poor QC and Design degradation has forced another answer.
I Do not disagree with Side air flow. My Favorite devices are my Ithaka and Kayfun type tanks.
However, Carto tanks have and still do use bottom 510 air flow and work very well.

Providing a path to the outside is key. Protank had slots milled under the bottom cap to allow air flow to the threaded area when the tank bottomed out on the mod. An adapter is necessary for many tanks today to prevent them from bottoming out and closing off air flow when installed. Head re-design was necessary for the Nautilus to utilize adjustable side holes above the threads. You can make it airy or tight and control juice feed as well as air flow.

There are good and not so good designs. As long as outside air can reach the atomizer it's all good.

I agree with that and the latest side flow are good examples of overcoming poor Mod Design.
A quick look at mods like Nemesis, StingRay, Origin show that there is no Reason Mod makers cannot incorporate air flow control or at least available Fixed air flow in any Mod and maintain Flush mount capability.
