I encountered this problem too. It took me about 2 months to get used to it. However I never drink beer and only drink good liquor. My weapon of choice is Monopolowa Vodka or higher and it must be potato, none of that nasty grain for me. Oh or Absinthe. (I am a goth after all.) My advice is to get used to the good stuff.

I went to this Viking Festival tour last year where all these Scandinavian Metal bands dressed up like Vikings and sang about conquering lands and slaying dragons. One of the bands came on stage with a Miller Light in hand, took a swig and said, "You Americans call this beer?"

I recommend Lone Star or Pabst Blue Ribbon if you're on a super tight budget. Guinness, McEwans, Shiner or Moosehead if you can afford $12 twelve-packs. Bud light and Keystone just taste like carbonated water to me. Bud light is definitely the better of the two, though.

Dont drink more, just drink BETTER :D

This is the correct answer to the problem.

Now that you know that the nasty, vile-tasting beer you had been drinking when you could not taste actually is nasty and vile-tasting, you need better beer.

My husband's homebrews taste great. And one will satisfy, rather than a boot-full.

(My Bushmill's Single Malt tastes even *better* than it did before:))

You are truly in a bind, being a poor college student and all.
Because yeah, the answer is to drink good beer, and good beer costs money.

I honestly would not drink Miller, Budweiser, Coors, or any other cheap beer if you gave it to me.
The same goes for any light beer in the entire world.

Having said that, I am going to recommend a Budweiser Chelada if you like Bloody Marys.
I tried one that someone else was drinking and I have to admit it wasn't horrible.
