Ughh this was my only issue during my initial days of trying to quit analogs. To be clear it was about 2 weeks into quitting before I picked up my pv so I wasn't getting any nicotine, but I can say without a doubt that while drinking it was hardest to control my urges. I dont know if it was habit or whether getting drunk just urges people to smoke, but there was just something missing that I missed terribly. After I got my pv it was better but still once in a while that urge was there.

I tend to think about it this way. If you have trouble with craving an analog when NOT drinking, then you need to stay away from the alcohol. Alcohol lowers your inhibitions, so you will more readily reach for the cancer stick. Further, it is harder to feel the throat hit and feel the warmth of a pv while drinking, for some making it less satisfying to vape and more tempting to smoke. If this does not apply, then don't worry about it.

Don't drink and drive, don't drip and drive, and breath easy.

Interesting that I saw this thread yesterday. Just to emphasize how done I am... last night we partied so much we didn't get in until 7am, my liver is on a 'lost... reward for return' poster, but not even a single craving for a cigarette. Two hits of a friend's clove and it tasted the same way the cigarettes smelled... yuck!

I am happy about that! Now to find, and apologize to, my liver

Before the electronic cigarette I never could have quit smoking in a million years as long as I was drinking.
And now I can say with complete confidence that I could never quit vaping as long as I still drink.

I can go all day without vaping, but when I drink, I am either going to smoke or vape. Period.

I heard the same thing long ago too, and iirc the reasoning was you're basically highballing a stimulant and depressant. And you simply crave that when you only have one or the other. A little better science now (perhaps...), but the way I see it, is once you know what you're up against (your body wanting something vs a concious decision), it makes whichever decision you choose, easier to stick with.

Last weekend I got forsnickered and didn't smoke just vaped. Now it was at my home and there was no cigarettes. At a bar I am not so sure about. To be honest I was suprised the vaping staved it off. Used to sit down with my booze and chain smoke a pack or two all to myself while drinking. It was nice to wake up without feeling like a small animal had crawled into my mouth and taken a dump while I was sleeping

The first day I found ecigs I knew right away that it was going to replace my habit but just to put it to the test, the very first day I went straight to the bar and stayed there all day having ABs without any urge to smoke. It was a non-smoking bar so I thought maybe thats why it was so easy. The same night, I then I went to a bar that still allowed smoking and I still had no urge to smoke. After putting it through these tests without feeling like I needed a smoke I knew it was going to work out.

I was wondering if any of you that still drink have a problem wanting to go back to Analog

occasionally -- when those around me are smoking while i'm drinking, like at picnics and house parties, i'll THINK i want one, but the really odd part is that i have actually taken a drag a few times, and i didn't like it -- it's the SMELL that makes me think i want one...i LOVE that smell...always have. these days, i just vape harder when i smell it and find the experience very enjoyable, LMAO.

(think ^that's^ nuts? -- i wish i could buy "freshly lit cigarette" scented eliquid or air fresheners...in fact, i search for them every so often...no, i'm not kidding...yes, i'm very strange. :D)

Now I quit drinking a 28 months ago (Friend of Bills) so that is not a factor for me. But I was wondering if any of you that still drink have a problem wanting to go back to Analog and not vape or if it does not matter. Just curious.

I don't drink but I do have a problem with coffee. An Episcopalian that gave quit smoking courses explained it to me. It's about patterns, not just smoking. For instance, when I sit down to program the first thing I reach out for is an analog. It's a pattern engrained in my brain. In Buenos Aires the usual gathering point is for coffee, not drinks, so you associate coffee (or drinking) to analogs. Retrain your brain to vaping and drinking and most probably you'll be able to enjoy a drink once in a while.

The vey 1st time I tried to quit smoking was back in the 80's when I was in 12th grade and I had been smoking for 2 years. But I also would go out and party on the weekends, which would entail drinking beers, and when we would drink, we would always smoke even more. So when I tired quitting, I was still drinking beers on the weekends at parties, and I managed to quit for a month, but then while at a party, while drinking, I went out outside this apartment with a friend who needed a smoke, and I watched him smoke a cig while I was drinking a beer, and I started Jonesing for a cig, and I bummed one from him, and thats all it took, and I was back to smoking again.

But I quit drinking any alcohol back in 1998, so thats not a problem this time.
