Hey guys,

i recently started dripping on my ego-t and wow i love it, but it can be messy from time to time.

i use cisco 2.ohm atties and joye 1.5 ohms

i was thinking about getting a drip shield and just wanted sue advice before proceeding to do so

so empire mods looks cool, but i think i need an adapter, is that right? which kind?

or we have avid vapor not as cool looking but is it correct that i don't need an adapter with this drip shield?

any advice would be really appreciated!

There's only one but it works really well: https://www.avidvaper.com/drip-shield-cone/. I asked about them in another thread and heard nothing but crickets. :) So I got them and I have about half a review on these written, but I've been traveling for work and I'm back on the road again now.

Bottom line, they fit perfect on an ego battery. Its basically what it sounds like, an Ego cone that is a drip shield. Its well constructed and it doesn't leak unless you dump a whole bottle into your atty, then liquid comes out of the air holes. I actually tried it to test what it would take to make it leak. The only other time it "leaks" is when you take it off and there is liquid unconsumed in the shield, it all comes out :).

Quick tip, when you put a 510 in there, use a screwing motion to get it in the shield. Then just screw the whole thing onto the Ego batt. The atty will be screwed in to the bat post, and if you keep screwing, the drip shield will end up resting flush with the battery.

If you get a tight draw, you can just rotate the shield (which frees up the intake air holes on the atty). If you prefer vaping a 306 or 510 without a cone normally (prefer the very airy draw), you can screw it up a bit. Just be careful you don't raise the shield too much. If the bottom grommet goes above the top of the screw post of the atty and there is juice in the shield, juice will come pouring out.

If you use a 306, you need to use an extra long drip tip, but it works just fine. Unfortunately, it does not work with the 306 to 510 drip tip adapter that Avid sells. IMO, this is a bit shortsighted of them, but oh well. If they made that combo work, I would've not needed to buy a 306DCA.

Not sure why you would need to put the shield on before screwing in the atty. Just moisten the o-rings in the shield and slide it on after the atty is on there. With it being an atty on an ego, an adapter should not be needed. The sleeve of the ego should suffice. When using a shield on my provari, I use an ego adapter for the extension in order for a 510 to work with the shield.

i got my order in the mail yesterday!!!! but its the wrong thing ..... bummer, they sent me the regular drip shield instead of the cone,

they already corrected the order and have resent the cone out -- first class mail so ill probably get it monday or tuesday --- which sucks because ill be out of town until thursday :(.

any way I've been using the shield with a 1.5 bridge less cisco atty on my ego it vapes great, but the regular shield just doesn't work well on the ego.

I'm still getting some e juice from the bottom, a very small amount, but still whats the point of using a shelf then,

if i drip 3 drops its gurgly as hell but it works, so 2's the limit right now.

i guess ill have to wait for the cone, hopefully it performs better.

also picked up a ss drip tip, looks awesome on my black ego- matches great

You don't have to put it on first, I never said that, it was just a tip. If you do it the way I explained it makes it really easy to screw the whole assembly on in one go. I find it a bit of a pain to force the cone shield on after the atty is already connected. Also the seal is not as good unless you jiggle it around a bit.

Sorry to hear that ozpkchris, yeah I got 2 regular drip shields and 2 cone drip shields. I use the regular ones on my Darwin, doesn't work as well on the Ego Booster/battery.

You are right, juice still gets into the battery coupler cup (for lack of the correct name of it) if you use an atty with an open post (standard attys and any bottom feeding custom attys). There are custom 510 attys that have a closed post. I forgot where I got the one I am using. It might have been smartvapes.

For regular attys, I have been just stuffing some cork from a wine bottle in the hole using a toothpick (solution I came up with while on a plane). I am sure there are better materials, I haven't actually tried to improve on it yet. I just needed something to keep my Ego Booster dry when I discovered this.

thanks for the tip,
i am actually used a atty with a closed bottom, the leakage is coming from the drip shield.
i believe because the fit is not that good on the ego. but the correct shield should probably help with that

Yikes, that's not good. Even the non-cone one on an Ego batt should not be leaking from teh shield. There is a grommet at the bottom which needs to seal with the bottom of the atty.

This is why I suggested the method in my prior post. If you put the atty on and then force the drip shield over it, I find you do not get a good seal. Also, you cannot check it to see if it sealed. Putting the atty in first and putting it into the shield from the top til it stops, naturally gives a good seal usually and it lets you check the bottom and see if it sealed or not before screwing it on the batt.

If it seals and still leaks, you got a bad drip shield and I would let Avid know. There are reports on ECF of declining quality/quality control with Avid/Cisco. If true, this may be part of the problems. FWIW, my experience was with them was overall good.
