Hey all, just bought myself a Stainless Steel t-tip from Jack at HV after I did some looking around. I think it's healthier to buy from him right now.

I found out that the "cheap" drip tips from viecs are actually copper drip tips that are nickel plated, meaning if you're clumsy, I'm sure the nickel will wear off.... Leaving a very poisonous, albeit tempting to use, drip tip.

I would have bought viecs drip tips if it weren't for this and I was really disappointed.

I notice evapers carries drip tips at a decent price, but are out of stock at the moment... does anyone know if they are Nickel-plated Copper as well?

Yup! same ones, which originates from HG or the mfr that supplies HG.

I was looking forward to Jack stocking them (original Ttips), unfortunately they are priced outside my league.

Thanks for filling me in Switched! I agree as well that these things are terribly expensive from Jack but I managed to scrape together enough this month. I know I could have bought 2-3 from viecs for that price but I'm paranoid about those coppers.

I am hoping to pass this kit along to family once I'm off the nic and don't want to me making them sick afterall :D

I also got a stainless steel one, but from Super T Manufacturing. Their 510/901 Stainless Steel Tradition Style Wide Mouth T-Tip fits the eGo/tornado/riva without blocking the airflow around the cone. I also had the same concerns about the cheap plated ones.
I also got the delrin ones but I have to use them on the mega atomizer. The delrins block the air flow on the shorter regular atty/cone combo on the eGo/tornado.

I would not recommend anyone to buy those cheap copper/nickle plated knock off. I've used them for a week and was starting to get a metal taste on my teeth with somewhat of a headache. The original ones from Super-T are a little more expensive but you only need one really.

I have not had a problem with the drip tip that we carry flaking apart. Are they plated? I can’t tell you, I never cut one in ½ nor have I had a problem with the coating flaking off. If you put anything metallic in your mouth you are going to get a metallic taste. Take a spoon from your kitchen that you eat with every day and place that in your mouth. You'll taste it.

Consuming metals in small amounts is not a concern. Just look at what you cook with. Cast iron, that’s know to add small amounts of iron to your food which is a good thing. Copper, very high end cookware is made from copper. If you were to check your cooking set, most likely these days it has been made in china, with the same method as the drip tips. If it’s good enough to cook dinner on, why the concern over it touching your mouth?

In the medical world, metal pins are used to set bones, and are often left in. Metal staples and wire are used to close after surgery. Orthodontics leaves metal in your mouth for years. Fillings in your teeth are metallic.

Unfortunately these days, we tend to jump the gun calling things dangerous before research has the chance to prove it. Heck isn’t even plastic a bad thing these days? I don’t see any threads about the regular plastic tips in anyone’s mouth.

I hope this calms the concern over the tips, and the false notion that “expensive” metal, or more correctly metal with a higher price tag, is somehow better for you.

For information on nickel plating and your health please see,

http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/tfacts15.html

It has been a concern for workers in plants, without adequate protection breathing LARGE amounts of it, during PRODUCTION. Or consuming water that has been contaminated by the process. Being exposed to large does over long periods of time during production, such as a dust in the air, is far different than being then end user of that product. Large amounts of exposure to radiation will kill you, however there are many things, such as your computer that emit radiation in small amounts, that effect is irrelevant.

Sorry if I offended, but I am just concerned about using a copper tip and find that concern to be legitimate.

I am actually also interested about the type of plastics that are used in the carts and if they contain parabins, etc. and that's one of the many reasons I wanted a drip tip.

I do know copper is poisonous and that's really off-putting when it comes to something you put in your mouth, that's my point. Again, I'm really sorry if I offended  Health concerns are afterall the reason people start vaping.

I've been using the nickle plated copper drip tips for over a month now and no problems. No flaking, no metal taste in my mouth. I'll probably order up a bunch of the delrin tips once them get them in stock. I would like to try the stainless Super T tips but I just can't justify the cost of the unit and the shipping costs.

I'm order up the two sized delrin Super T drip tips from Jack to see if I like using them, THEN maybe.... just maybe.... I might splurge on the metal ones (which if I'm not mistaken are simply for aesthetics anyways).

Sure money's tight for me too, but honestly, I can hardly complain about such a small expense for something with longevity when I compare to what I put out every week (let alone every day), on cigarettes.

We need to be perfectly honest here folks. The Chinese knock offs are exactly that Chinese knock offs.

I personally cannot see spending $32 and change (with the discount) on a SS T tip when I can get it for $19.99 + $1.25 shipped.

When I first heard of these coming to Canada I was stoked. I was disappointed that David didn't cut Jack a better deal.

I'm surprised that you would say that you don't know if they are nickel plated, as heaven-gifts clearly says in their details:
"It's made of copper and finished with nickel"

I've tried the ones from heaven-gifts (both designs) and after about a day of use, it tastes like I'm vaping through a penny. I purchased a t-tip from Happy Vaper and I'm much happier with it. I know they are more expensive, but the way I see it, it's a one time purchase, and very much worth it.

I’m not heaven gifts.

For what it’s worth, the price per lb of copper is $3 or $1-2 for stainless. You can draw your own conclusions from that.

I didn’t know there would be such an interest in the metallurgy of a certain part, I’m certain utensils don’t come under this much scrutiny.

I will certainly look into finding out if I can get a metallurgical analysis for anyone who is interested, just send me a note.

Also with there being such interest as to the exact composition of these parts, please don’t take “stainless steel” as an answer. Stainless steel is simply a steel alloy consisting of some chromium. There are over 150 different kinds. I’m sure we have all bough an inexpensive something stainless that rusted, as well as having more expensive stainless that has lasted forever. Clearly the chemical composition of different grades is different.

What all of this boils down to is as and example you have a choice between a Rolex and a Timex watch. There are many different reason why a consumer could choose either, but one being healthier than the other or ones greater value being attributed to only the raw materials are not valid reason.

There was a question asked by the OP, it was answered. This was an honest answer, not slamming nor promoting anyone in particular. If we can't discuss this stuff openly amongst consumers, then what is the purpose of this site? A mere platform for vendors to flaunt their wares??

Go back and re-read exactly how stuff was posted and answered, this is customer feedback, only. No slam or whatever, just feedback why one went one way and another in another way.

It cost me $2.21or 23 to send 30ml of juice to Greg, Why does it cost $10 to ship a Ttip at a fraction of the weight. It is a rhetorical question. I spread the wealth around, but at the same time as it has been discussed ad nauseum in the past, we would like to spend our money in Canada, but at times it is simply not cost effective.

For example the $5 I save per atyy x 20 = a PV not I saved the cost of half a pack of smokes per atty.

For what is is worth, I will put my money where my mouth is. I will be contacting a local machine shop wrt what we can get the Switch Tips for! I am surprised that vendors havent sought this avenue yet, and if they have and is not cost effective, I apologise in advance.
