I love the way a lot of glass drip tips, and ceramic ones look. I have a couple of questions, one I live where it gets very cold (as low as -40C at times) does anyone know if glass can freeze to lips like metal does? Second question, metal drip tips always feel like they are way colder than plastic, even when they have been stored in the same room etc. is glass the same? I really want to order one of the glass ones, but they aren't cheap and I would hate to spend 35.00 on something I woun't use (even as I type this I feel kinda silly, smokes cost 10-12/pack here).

Anyways, TIA:)

I am not sure on your first question but I have an answer to your second. The reason different materials feel like they are colder even though they are stored at the same temperature is due to the heat transfer coefficient of the material. The higher the heat transfer coefficient (k), the colder it feels. It is due to how the material sucks the heat from your warm lips into itself. The k value of aluminum is about 237 and the k value of glass is about 0.040 so I would venture to say that a glass drip tip would not feel as cold as a metal one. The higher the k value, the faster heat is transferred.

This is the same principle that explains why a tile floor in a house feels colder than a carpeted floor, even though both are at the same temperature that your thermostat is set to.
