Drip Tips seem to be one of the last parts of vaping that I don't have a decent handle on yet. And they are by far the simplest. Now I may be over-thinking this but, most tops have the option to put on a different tip so...

What difference do tips make? Is it all just mouth feel or can they make a difference in the temp, density, draw, etc?
What makes a tip a piece of garbage versus a nice solid piece?
What are your preferences?

It really does boil down to personal expression and preference. There are some drip tips that are "Big Bore" that allows a person get a less restricted airflow thru their "Topper" for a airier draw. There are those (me included) who prefer a light, airy draw, most like a tighter draw. Some drill out the air hole on their atomizer to allow a larger volume of air in to feed the coil/wick to produce bigger clouds and the tip can make a difference in the amount of air they can draw.
For most though, it's just an accessory that they get to color-coordinate or ease of cleaning, perhaps for comfort. The shape of the tip usually is just aesthetic preference, or more comfortable for the lips to make a seal.

Materials, again is mostly a preference. Some don't like stainless steel, some love a glass tip to put on top of their Phiniac tank, there are tips carved from stone also. There is something sexy about a marbled Black Onyx tip on a black powder coated device!
SS can be uncomfortable out in the cold... so having a nylon tip is for comfort.
I'm sure there is more to it, but that's really all I have.
