Cartridge end, NOT battery end. 901's take 2-3 drops, not more than that or you may flood it, I get 12-15 good puffs off of 2-3 drops which is equal to an analog.
I've calmed down considerably with dripping - it makes great vapour but the liquid has an annoying tendancy of getting into the battery hole and gumming up the switch. I've already wrecked one battery because of this.
So do exercise caution here and understand the risks involved. Even over-topping a cart can cause this problem (if you create a small puddle on top).
Hopefully one day a better design will come along which will not allow the liquid to make any contact with the battery.

Janty have sorted this problem with the Kissbox by having a manual switch with no hole to the atomiser. I drip all the time and it leaks out of the atomiser sometimes but can't get into the switch. I did kill one once before they produced the ones without the hole.
I have been dripping my 901 for 2 weeks now and haven't had a problem. I just make sure to use only 2 drops and vape it real low (very little vapor) before dripping again. Also I always put mouthpiece side down in my pocket.
It seems to be a cumulative effect swanee, I didn't have any problems either for the first few weeks (and I'm careful too) - then the switch started acting up, and it kept getting worse until finally it didn't function properly anymore.

The E-Cigar is kinda bad for liquid leaking into the battery chamber. I had one that I was dripping liquid into, and it got all over the battery and shorted out the micro switch. I hope they will improve the design to better protect the battery & switch.
The intellicig (M401 I think) has the air hole for the switch on the outer rim outside of the threads this seems to prevent liquid from getting in the switch but not necessarily the battery
Also probably a good idea to drain the atomizer overnight after a day of dripping
