I ALWAYS drip 2 or so drops on the atomizer and 2 or so drops into the cartridge (I have a DSE901) and it seems to make the atomizer last longer and give better flavor and vapor than just dripping on the cartridge.

However, e-smokeytreats says "always drip onto the cartridge and never directly onto the atomizer"

What is up with that??

Esmokeytreats aren't the only ones that recommend against dripping, but it's basically so they can't be blamed when your atomizer quits working. Dripping can more easily gunk up an atomizer... is the rationale.

I'm dripping my 510 (coincidentally from e-smokeytreats lol ) without issue. I hated dripping my 901 but it works great on the 510 and I've discovered its so much easier to bounce between flavors whenever I want.

But to answer the original question - liability. If they tell you NEVER drip and you do and your atty dies then they don't have to replace it. Which is cool because we all know its a risk and saves them from having to replace attys needlessly

Dripping also will kill a battery.

Dripping _can_ kill a battery, (and I know that's what you mean ;-) but I had a friend/newbie who forgot my instructions - he doesn't visit here (but should ;-) and dripped directly into the battery well! (on a 510) for three days before I found out what he was doing from a phone call. Both batteries are still going strong. The phone call wasn't regarding any problems he was having - he was running out of juice and wanted a supplier... :)

edit: I should mention (for others) that even though that happened and that the 510 batt is sealed, the switch is still vulnerable with that much direct dripping but again, he had no problems. Even was still vaping with flavor which really surprised me.

I just got my first e-cig (Joye510) two days ago and I have had nothing but problems with vapor consistency. That is until I took the cartridge filler out of the mouthpiece and threw it straight into the trash. I just discovered drip-smoking...and man, what a difference! I get consistent pulls every time. My 510 now vapes like a fog machine!

Needless to say, I have become a permanent dripper.

Jerreye,

Many people do exactly like you. I drip frequently but I really am looking for a cart mod or filler that really works. I have tried everything I see on the forums. Haven't found the perfect solution yet but I will darn it. Until then I drip drip drip.

Yosam
I haven't tried the Pyramid Tea Bags yet, or any of the variations on that theme.
But having discovered the "Thermometer Method" I am now back to using cartridges again.

NOTE: You may need to search for "Windmill Method"

The straw mod just doesn't float my boat.
But some day I will definitely try the Pyramid Tea Bags.

I'm just waiting for the dust to settle between the PTB plug mod, or the PTB shredded mod.
I don't feel like being a pioneer when I already have something that works for me.
:)

if you do the teabag mod (pyramid only!), and fold your teabag back and forth like an accordian, then fold it in half, then take the folded (pinched) side and stick in the cart, leaving the fluffy wavy side stickin out...then mow that off flush with end of cart..you'll get amazing mash of flavor every shot till the teabag is dry.

there's a fine line between too darn much teabag, and way way too little. many of the teabags work better with more than most of the videos show..if using this method.
My suggestion is to use too much teabag, and remove a bit as needed till its perfect..and use it enough to tell.

Teabags of other types can be used, but only the funny plastic netting of the pyramid really works well for a flavor explosion every drag. other teabags dont really wick well, and respond very much like that darn crappy batting filler carts come with...if not worse.

I have a teabag modden cart for my 901...not really known for its vapor production unless you drip it. Right now I'd put my 901 up against a lot of things except my VK..which doesnt maybe deliver as concentrated flavor, but does deliver for a hell of a long time without refilling.

I seriously recommend you try replacing your cart stuffing with folded back and forth pyramid teabag and see for yourself...it doesnt cost much, and really brought my 901 out of the gutter. any other cig capable of doin this to would prob work even better. I did it to my 901 cause its a real PITA to be dripping all the time.

Original e-cigs were never meant for dripping. People are doing a lot of things now that the e-cig wasn't designed to do. It's a warranty issue. If used as intended, any e-cig should give reasonable service. When you stray away from the intended use, you have to be aware and make changes.

The main issue, (IMO) is that new users are told to do all kinds of crazy things. Then they start having trouble. And as you can see by reading, the ones that told them to do something out of the ordinary, usually don't come back to help with the problems.

I am pretty much convinced that electronic cigarettes were designed and intended to allow a person to have a drag or two every now and then to feed their nicotine addition.

They work extremely well for that simple purpose.

I am also pretty much convinced that lots of people that use cigarettes for reasons other than just a nicotine addiction are having a lot of trouble with the wicking issues that are inherent with these devices.

I want 10 drags in less than 10 minutes.

That is how I used regular cigarettes, and that is how I want to use electronic ones.
And that is the only way they can be of use to me.
