 Noob here, been vaping for over 2 weeks now on my eGo-T. I thought that I already had THE device to satisfy my needs until this morning when I was getting nothing but dry, flavor-less vapes. That's when I decided to give dripping a try. So I found a local shop and decided to go with a 901 LR atty. Put a few drops of juice (Gorilla juice from AVE) and took my first hit.... All I could say is DANG! Tons of warm vapor, killer TH, and best of all - FLAVOR. I was totally missing out on this dripping thing. If you're a noob and haven't tried dripping yet I suggest you give it a shot!

P.S. Mucho thanks to James @ Vaporescence for throwing in that 510/901 adaptor and drip tip for free. Will definitely be back to try out some juice.

Bdub... Sounds like you're off to a great start. It's so wonderful when you get a satisfying fit from an e-cig. I started a few weeks ago with a 510 kit I got from ElectronicStix. Been pretty happy, but it takes a lot of attention with constant charging and dripping. But, I'll do anything to stay away from analogs. Speaking of which, how do you get that banner on the bottom of your posts that says how long you quit and how much you've saved?
Glad you're here!! Continued success!!

Had the same issues with the ego T, and saw the VapeMate demonstated on youtube. I just got it today and WOW!! Takes the hassle right out. I mean, right out. Your bottle is attached!! YouTube - VapeMate By SuperT It's $59.99 and worth every penny. I am dancing on air with flavor and since I'm disabled, this is so much easier for me. Hope this helps! G8rGirl does great, easy to understand videos.

I've only been vaping for a day and a half, but I started dripping tonight after reading a post on dripping. My problem is, my 510 leaks now. I know I didn't drip any on the outside and made sure when I put the empty cart back on, there was no spillage or leaking. It seems to leak after I push the button to heat it up to take a drag. What am I doing wrong?

It's not uncommon for there to be some leakage when dripping (at least for me). That is why it is highly recommended to only drip using a manual battery. Auto bats have a hole in them so leakage can damage them.

I am a noob too. I keep a roll of paper towels on my desk and wipe my PV all the time while I am dripping and vaping.

I'm kind of paranoid to dry run my atty so I side towards over dripping I guess. One noob mistake I had done many times was pressing down on the drip tip with my finger covering up the opening on top. This will push the liquid right out of your atty. Simple physics.

I saw somewhere here to use 3 drops then vape til the flavor goes off a bit (slightly burnt taste) then drip again. I use a 50/50 PG/VG or straight VG base and seems like 2 drops has been better with my experience. Less mess/waste.

I am using a manual battery. No drip tip (using empty cart). I have to keep paper towel close by, as well. Maybe leaking is just part of dripping? Seems messier than just topping off a filled cart.

i dont understand how dripping can be less hassle than cartos or cartridges? dont you have to put couple drops in every half a minute just to make it vape? with a good size cart, you can vape for quite some time before you have to refill it.

I felt the same way till I had one of those aha moments. I bought a drip tip to try because they are cheap. I used it once and thought, "What's the big deal?" Well I finally figured it out. The thing is that cartidges have a lot of inconsistencies. When they start getting dry, they are not as good. When you just fill them they are too wet. You hit them too much and they dry out around the atty and you have to wait for them to rewick. One night I was watching TV and my cartridge was running dry. So, I had the choice. Take a dry hit or fill it and take a wet hit. Then I dug out the drip tip and I really liked the consistency. It's not for on the go and you don't have to add juice all that often but, sitting around, it's great.

Last night I had an experience in Death, Destruction, Resurrection and Revelations

Sounds religious doesn’t it? It isn’t. The only system I have ever vaped with has been the eGo-Tank

I had one of my Tank attys go bad a few days ago. Was barely getting warm, getting almost nothing out of it, only a slight burnt taste, no vapor at all, I did my cleaning routine, adjusted the wick, and still nothing out of it.

I finally had an atty die.

Before tossing it, I decided I would pull it apart… but had no dental tool with an L on the end of it, all I had was a long curvy one that proved useless in getting the puncture device plat out. Not being a very patent man, I decided not to head for the store for a proper tool, but to try something foolish, I do have a pair of small needle nose pliers. I wondered if I could grab the tip of the puncture devise and pull it out that way.

Needless to say I ended up messing up the puncture device pretty badly doing it that way. Within moments of having it out I accidently pulled the wick out of it, and in the next second was accosted by a cat jumping into my lap and in the process of sorting things out… lost the wick.

So instead of a re-building, I figured this was going to be an autopsy. Set aside the damaged puncture device and plate and looked at the atty, as I suspected it was just a coil of nicrome ( or other similar material ) around a ceramic core surrounded by a ceramic cup which was surrounded by a steel mesh looking material.

I hooked up the battery and got little out of it, I poured a little vodka into it and swirled it around a bit and a piece of junk came off the atty. Found a pipe cleaner, folded the tip back on itself and didped that in vodka and very gently started brushing the nicrome coil with vodka.

Pretty soon I had an end of it that was glowing orange under fire. A little more vodka and a little more brushing and I had an atty that was getting hot again, I could get it glowing orange from end to end ( I probably could have gotten it white hot but I didn’t want to burn out the wire which I know can happen as in High Power Rocketry that is exactly what we do lighting ammonium perchlorate ( solid high power rocket propellant .

So.. now I have a working tank atomizer with no puncture devise or plate…. Hmmmmmm

Now dripping I hear is what a lot of people do… I was never interested as it seemed a royal pain to have to pull out a bottle, drip into the atty for a pull on the e-cig. ( realize that I had zero experience with it ) but…. Here I was with a working exposed atty that I could at least try it.

Dropped 3 drips into the atty, and put the end of the cone to my mouth and took a slow normal draw.

Woah… LOTS of vapor… too much…. Have to pull less when I try that again.

Put 3 more drops in and flooded the atomizer….. ( hmmm perhaps it is not drip and pull… maybe you can get more than one pull when you drip ) slowly unflooded it, and vaped it dry. Tried 2 drops this time, and got like 4-5 good hits ( interesting to note that hit 1 was very good, hit 2 - 4 were fantastic and hit 5-6 was getting lighter but still good, hit 7 was getting even lighter and starting to taste a little burnt ) Hit 8 was obviously the end of it.. mostly just heated air that was burnt tasting.

The first several hits where some of the best and most consistent hits I have ever had from my e-cig, however sucking on that cone felt odd… looked in my kit of spare junk from my e-cigs and found a black false cartridge with no fill in it that came with one of my attys…. Air pulled through it easily.

Dropped in 2 drops and put the blank cartridge in the end of it… looked and felt, and vaped great!

Now I understand why people drip,

There is zero chance of your e-cig leaking because it has no large amount of juice in it, in fact, I can put in a couple or 3 drops and get in my car, take a hit, take another 3 or 4 min later and it is still good. ( did that this morning on the way to work ) and kept working for 5-6 hits all the way to work.

This probably wont be the only way I vape… I still like the tank in some circumstances with a good Atty ( the hits on my wife’s Tank atty are nearly as good as dripping ) I am going to try attys and Cartridges’ ( have a LR mega type B atty and pack of cartages in the mail now ) and will try cartomizers at some point as well.

But after last night… I am probably going to go get a couple 510 LR atty and a drip tip, it is the best and most consistent tasting and vapor production vaping I have done yet.

So drippers are not crazy, I don’t have to feel like I am humoring a very nice and helpful but insane person anymore.

( I should add that at work today, I only have the broken atomizer and fake cartrage, today I am just dripping )

Bottom line.. yeah it is more of a hassle, but 2 drops ( at least in how mine is set up ) is about the same as having a cigarette, and less hassle than pulling out a smoke, finding a lighter, lighting it, crushing out the .... etc. And the vapor production, the taste, and feel of it is as good as the very best hits from the tank ( and not all hits from the tank system are that good ) and more consistent, and predictable.

Little off topic for this thread but, I used an eGo-T for a while. I took a large (Large not novelty sized.) safety pin and bent the end. It works great for pulling that plate in the atomizer.

I'm a dripper and use ego Tanks while driving. Here are a couple dripping tips I found helpful.

I remove my drip tip to eliminate the possibility of sucking up juice.

Start with a cool atty.
When juice hits a warm / hot atty, I notice my atty leaks.

Drop three drops into my atty, put on my drip tip and immediately take a few puffs.
When I drip and let my pv sit, I notice my atty leaks. It seems that taking a few puffs immediately uses up a little of that juice and my atty can hold the remaining juice until I get around to vaping it again.

Hold the PV in more of a vertical position vs a horizontal position.
Horizontal position tend to put more juice into your drip tip - thus your mouth.

Try not to draw too hard when dripping.

This may look and sound complicated but it is not. These are just common sense tips, but something we don't often think about. Hope this helps a little,

Happy Vaping,
Paula

Thanks! MickyRat

I will try that as my wife still like the tank, and on a long trip I am likely to use them as well.

Funny I don’t have a drip system here at all, I have a broken eGo-T atty and a false blank cartridge and getting the best vapes I have had yet LOL

I thought the drippers were a little nutty before I tried it…

and thank you pkj.... I don’t have a drip tip system yet ( but I will )... dripping using an abomination of parts... but it is working!
