Want to see what you more experienced guys think. Dropped my coupor mini and battery flew out. Here are a couple pics of the damage. I did set my charger in a safe place and charged the dropped battery with no problem.

Would you guys ditch it or keep using?
Thanks.

if it were just the paper, I'd say you could wrap it, but looks like the metal ends themselves are a bit damaged?

If so, I'd toss.........or rather, recycle.

I HOPE everyone is recycling their batts at a drop off.......right?

thanks for the link. i have 2 i need to get rid of, wasn't sure what to do with them.

@ the original poster, if the battery has a gash in the wrap i wouldn't use it. there like 6 bucks for a new one anyways not worth the risk.

Lot of mixed suggestions. I went a head last night and ordered 2 more LG he 4 batteries. I only have 2 atm, so I'm going to need to use them till the new batteries come.

Been vaping on it a little last night and this morning. Seems fine so far. Holding a charge, not over heating, and 4.6v at 15 watts. Would a small gash like that really compromise the battery? It is very tiny.

Thanks for the opinions so far.

If there is a small gash and you use in a mech the mech could fire constantly because the battery is touching the sides of the tube. Had that happen when I dropped my Pegasus clone and the battery rattled and scratched a small area of the wrapper and was firing until I took it out and replaced the wrapper. Other than that unless its a huge dent in the negative it should be fine.

The battery will work fine (theoretically), but its safety is now compromised. It's like a wire with damaged insulation. Sure, it'll work fine...until that damaged part makes contact with something conductive. Then, fizzt, short.

Only with a battery, it's more like "boom".

Granted, it's a tiny gash, but it's not going to heal itself over time. In fact, count on the opposite. If it vents, it won't just be the cost of a replacement battery. It'll probably destroy whatever device it's installed in too, possibly causing collateral damage to nearby objects/appendages in the process. Personally, I'd toss it.

A small tear in the wrapper in meaningless it's just a cover on a steel tube.now a hole in the metal is a real problem.

herez how you fix it ( use a hair dryer not a lighter)

The video is more to show everyone whats inside more then how to repair piece of scotch tape over the hole works fine

Does it charge, hows it read on a meter. Little electrical or scotch tape over any cover cuts, dents in the endcap wont hurt unless they are creating an internal short or prevent good contact with the device.

Gash could provide route for a short.[/QUOTE

As far as I can tell, its charging fine. Reads on my Clouper like it had before I dropped it. Reads the same as my other non-dropped battery. I'll put a strip of scotch tape over the gash for a little ease of mind. Thanks.

Question: Instead of taking off the old wrap, couldn't you just put a new wrap over the old?

Great video (other than the lighter part, I would definitely use a hair dryer). Thanks for that! :D

I have rewrapped 3 batteries due to little gashes in the wrappers. Its easy to do, but the blow dryer does get hot so be careful. Samsungs have thinner wrappers. All 3 that got tiny tears were Samsungs. Just be careful you don't lose that nylon washer at the positive end when you turn on the blow dryer. Ask me how I know

You could but then there is a chance you make it too fat. Probably not an issue in a box mod but like batts from orbtronics with his fat rewrap job wont go in my tube mods

Not just tube mods, but also mods where the battery goes in from the bottom like the sx mini, ipv mini, Vapor Flask, etc.
