Dropping Pulse Rate?

Has anybody else noticed a serious drop in heart rate since they cut/quit the analogs and started vaping?

I used to average 90-95 beats per minute. As of today, my resting pulse is 66 (probably about what it should be for a 43 year old at 5' 8" who weighs 140 pounds).

No problems here, just curious as to whether anybody else has noticed a drop this sharp and impressive!

Me too. Being in the 60's is a good thing. (My pulse, not my age.) My resting rate was in the 90's+ when I was smoking. And I did notice what smoking was doing to me as I switched to vaping: One of the first things that became evident was losing that "ramping up" of my heart rate that happened every time I smoked a cigarette. I noticed losing that, that difference, right away.

Yes. My resting heart rate has decreased. I have also had Paroxysmal Atrial Tachycardia since I was in my teens and haven't had even the slightest one since I started vaping (which makes no sense, since I'm still getting nicotine). No complaints here!

When it comes to the impact smoking has on your cardiovascular system it's not just about getting nicotine. The act of smoking - versus vaping - alone is much more efficient at getting all manure of stuff into your system very quickly. You get nicotine, and your carbon monoxide and a whole pile of other chemicals along for the ride too.

Nicotine in tobacco contributes to an increase heart rate due to its stimulating effect. Smoking tobacco is known to cause vascular constriction as well as arterial clogging.
When you combine all these effects together you get one hell of a recipe for heart failure in the long term because of all the extra work your heart has to do pumping blood through tobacco ravaged veins increasing heart rate and blood pressure. When you stop smoking and your veins are allowed to expand and unclog the heart can begin to relax after all that hard work pumping blood through messed up veins. The result of which is a drop in heart rate and blood pressure because the heart can relax from no longer having to deal with a body being poisoned by analogs.
I`m not a Doctor, just a former smoker who did a quick googling. So, feel free to poke holes if I got anything wrong :)

My heart rate has definitely dropped since I gave up ciggies and started vaping (7 months now). My pulse is still higher than it "should" be, but when I smoked tobacco it was always well over 100 beats per minute even at rest. Now it's around 78 - 85.

Sadly I have also gained some weight. Probably at least partially due to my heart not racing all day/night long.

Interesting note: My doctor put me down as a non-smoker on my medical chart now, even though I still vape nicotine...! She said as long as I was 6 months tobacco-free, I'm considered a nonsmoker (yay!) :p

About the only "negative" to nicotine is "vasoconstricor" (means is makes your veings clamp down smaller) however nicotine alone isn't any harder on the old bod than a cup of java! It's the OTHER chemicals in ciggy's that really smacked the body DOWN.

From a SMOKE standpoint, picture standing in a forrest fire (essentially this is what we did to our bodies when we smoked), the aveoli got clogged UP HARDCORE. The tobacco burning (ASH) actually clogs up the air sacks, aveoli, in our lungs. So what happens is they "bleed" then scar UP. Needless to say when you scar up whole sacks, well you can't breath for squat. You body has to work harder to get 02 to your brain (and other parts of your body).

Vapeing is much like standing in a HOT shower! H2O molecules are MUCH larger than the ash in smoke. And vape doesn't clog up and scar your "air sacks". So from a purly LOGICAL standpoint, well it makes SENSE that vapeing is much easier on a body than smoking.

If you look at old scars on your body they ARE faded. This is essenetially what is happening in lungs of all vapors. We've done some damage that will NEVER go away. But the longer we stay away from SMOKE (and the ash), the better our lungs can actuate, or heal up and start working like they are SUPPOSED too. WHen lungs work they way they are SUPPOSED to work, well they get 02 in and the heart doesnt' have to work as hard oxy'ing the old bod up. Ergo, the heartrate goes DOWN!

Broken Arrow Ok.
I had annual ck. up 4 weeks after i was only vaping and my BP and pulse was lower than usual, which is real good for me.
As far as smoking goes i had a real issue with red blood cells and carbon monoxide levels being way high, not good. I feel 100% better now with more energy and endurance and a better outlook on life in general. Vaping is literaly a life saver for me.
