How many times can I expect to dry burn a coil before it goes bad. And I suppose that it won't burn red when bad? I've been dry burning the same coils for about a month and they still seem to burn red, so far so good. I keep the same four in rotation but I just wondered how long to expect them to last?

Depends on what kind of coil you are using. The ones that you make yourself tend to last longer than ones that you buy. As long as it is still working....count your blessings!! :D
Disposable ones depend on what kind of liquid you are using. I would just make sure that you have some new ones for backup. Murphy's Law will probably get you and all four will go at the same time

The short answer is keep doing it until it either tastes bad or doesn't produce a satisfying vape. There are a lot of variables that determine how long that is. Juice type, coil type, preferred power setting, etc. Not sure how long you've been vaping but it gets really easy to tell when a coil needs maintenance and also when it's beyond maintenance.
