I've got some of that that I used for knitting, but it's yellow. Maybe I'll get some white and try. I've got some undyed wool, but I'm afraid it would taste like I was vaping a sheep. ;).

Way back in the stone ages, when all we had to vape with was 510 stick bats that lasted 30 minutes (if you were lucky) atomizers and cartriges, I got a wild hair and stuffed my cart with clean wool.

It was the BEST filler material I had tried!

Wool will hold 10x its weight in liquid :D

Doesn't this method pull 2 wicks through the coil doing this? Can you pull the thickness of the doubled wick through the coil without ruining the coil? I'm kinda thick, maybe I'm missing something here. Can you help?
Yes, it pulls a doubled wick through the coil. In the picture is 1mm silica so I'm getting 2 - 1mm wicks in the coil. With 2 additional pieces of 1mm silica as flavor wicks it wicks perfect for me in the T3, T3S, Evod and Protank with no flooding / gurgling ymmv

I wouldn't recommend that. Doesn't burning some types of wool emit cyanide gas? I'm not up on the combustion temp of wool, but wouldn't want to take a change. Just sayin'

I've been using 1mm silica for the flavor wick. At about 1 cm each time even 4 feet should last a while.

With four feet of it "a while" = 121.92 changes according to my calculation. 'Spose you could stretch that to 122. :D

As far as the coil goes: Until it pops or isn't performing well - which ever comes first. I'm still in the honeymoon phase with my T3's and ProTanks. I'm pretty sure that any coil material deteriorates (breaks down) with age and eventually it may be firing but it just ain't right. That's been my experience with attys. I do notice with the likes of these Kanger coils they hit "ain't right" by the time I'm into week five. That could be the result of the coil deteriorating. Or it could be the wicking inside the coil itself has reached it's limit. Dry burning is a great thing - but ultimately it cannot reverse "prolonged aging" of the materials involved. You've seen what happens to that top wick if it survives even one or two cleanings so you know the wick inside the coil is going through it's own changes over time.

You guys is dry burning a lot more than I do. Funny - I'm running 100 VG through these things and finding I only need to dry burn once a week on average. Going through about 3 ml's a day too. (Could be the flavors I'm using too.)

No matter: Up to five weeks. $1.99 for a coil whether it's popped or not. I can deal. :D

Ha, thanks for the math Rick. id been meaning to work that out, cause I'm nerdy like that. I've come to the conclusion that I'm just a spoiled brat as far as needing fresh coils. When I use carto tanks I just have to change the carto every 2-3 days. I can't stand to use them any longer than that. It may be my all day vape that I'm using. It has a 'natural' flavor and some caramel flavoring. It may just cook into the coils more than some other juices. I buy the cartos 25 or 50 at a time from surevapes, so they are inexpensive. I think, it comes out to $1/carto, so $2 a week isn't really anything to complain about after what I used to spend on cigarettes.

One of the appeals of the protank was the ability to dry burn and rebuild, so a gunked coil doesn't end the usefulness like it does with a carto. The money savings are nice, but the main appeal is that I can refresh my juice delivery myself if the FDA does something idiotic. Hopefully they won't, but I could just envision myself watching my nice stash of cartos dwindle away with no way to replace, and having to vape on cartos that taste like old gym socks to me, LOL. Highly unlikely, as I'm sure I could find some way to get my hands on them if FDA shut the whole thing down.
