Every time I try to vape my lips start to peel and I pick the dry skin and end up going back to analogs. I am actually scared to vape. I use USP lanolin, and carmex and nothing helps. I also drink tons of water, or lemon water.

I brush my teeth and gargle several times a day. My mouth feels oily unless I gargle. Has anyone experienced the dry lip problem and if so, is there something that helps?

I use a 1000mah ego with a kanger pro mini tank. I gave up with flavored ejuice and make non flavored. I have used 20/80 juice at 18, and 24 mg. Today I vaped all afternoon and by dinner tonight the dry lips are starting. This is my viscous cycle that I can't seem to end.

I want to get off analogs and make the switch.
Thanks in advance for any help or ideas that I might try.

Interesting. Are you someone who gets chaped lips often? I rarely ever do so it has never been a issue with vaping the only thing I can suggest is to make sure your putting the entire drip tip in your mouth clear of any vapor hitting your lips.

This is something I will try to pay attention to, as it is about the only thing I have not tried. When I blow out the vapor it will get on the lips I think. I only get chapped lips in the winter when we first turn on the furnace. The only other time I get chapped lips is when I vape.

DH and I were trying to analyze this morning before I started up vaping this afternoon. He believes that vaping mostly VG is like a mini fog machine. He used to have one. He thinks the VG is coating my lips and drying them out. On the other hand PG is more dehydrating.

Today I only vaped about 2 hours total and the lips are starting to get dry. I don't believe dehydration has set in as I drink a lot of water when I vape and I did not vape long. Darn it. I am at wits end.

Interesting I have been addicted to chapstick since I was a kid, always have one in my pocket.

Could it also be dehydration?

That is why I only use USP lanolin on my lips, no other ingredients are in it. I only use Carmex when I get what I call the vaping lips and I alternate them because nothing really helps except when I quit vaping.

Hello DQuit, I too have this happen to me occasionally and I use chapstick to remedy this situation. Try using a lip balm of your liking and use it daily all day to see what happens. It is definitely a better solution than analogs.

Dehydration occurs before you feel it. drink water at room temperature and liquids with high electrolytes. Athletes hydrate days before an event.

Also sodas and coffee will contribute to dehydration. Just my 2 cent, hope this helps.

Good luck and vape on

Always by ur side
i get dry nose and always start to bleed when i vape, after 2 years plus of vaping, i still have dry nose but it doesnt bleed now.
Maybe my nose is getting use to it.
To me, i strongly believe vaping is a healthier alternative to smoking an analog
Dont give up, experiment a little, try 100PG and 100VG to see which work for u best.

I have heard about the dry noses. Two years and you are now done bleeding? I don't think I could stand dry lips that long. It is great you stuck it out and got through it. I'll be testing around with the VG and PG, thanks!

To the other replies above, are all great ideas and I am going to be trying everything I can. I appreciate all the great ideas. I am just now realizing it is something not normal when a person starts vaping.

I am going to rest my lips the rest of tonight and get up tomorrow morning and start again using these ideas. Thanks so much.

Are you using a metal tip? Doing daily allergy assessments on people, there are a lot of people that have a mild to moderate allergy to nickle or chrome. Both are present in stainless steel. My wife has a mild nickel allergy- if she wears ear rings with stainless studs, her ear lobes become scaly, but gold doesn't bother her. A stainless watch band will make her wrist irritated.

A glass or plastic tip may be a game changer.

I recall having some issues with my lips when I first started; my lips often felt as if there was a greasy film on them, so I would wipe and lick them alot, and that caused chapped lips. I healed the chapped lips with Blistex ointment as usual, but once they were healed, I also started ONLY wiping them with a lotion-infused tissue, like Pufs or a generic (I get mine at Kroger, because their cheapies are actually softer than real Pufs!). This helped a great deal, until finally the issue went away. I think it's just that the vapor condensate on your lips feels very different from whatever smoke leaves on your lips, so you notice it, and wipe it, lick it, which causes the problem.

Bolivar- I did think it might be the metal Kanger tip, so I switched them out today to plastic. I have metal allergies to where I break out also with earrings, necklaces and rings. I did not know stainless steel had those metals.

RosaJ- no I do not breathe through my mouth, only when I exhale like normal. It is a thought that made me think about it :)

AndriaD- I think you may have hit on something I might be doing. I might be licking my lips. I will definitely be watching myself in the morning when I start again. I do know I can brush my teeth and still feel the oil on my lips, and I assume it gets there from the exhaling vapor.

Great! I am excited to get up and start using all these great ideas. Thank you all!

Yeah, it's what condenses from the vapor into the driptip, and on your lips, and it does have a slightly greasy feel to it; I've never been able to tolerate lipstick, I hate feeling anything greasy on my lips. But I have depended on the blistex ointment to heal my lips for many years, and it's the best there is, to heal them (and even sores in your nose -- use some blistex on a qtip, it will cool and heal it just as it does with a cold sore), and the other trick of using lotion-infused tissues; with my allergies I can't live without them, or my nose is red and chapped all the time -- also, I've found that when you're moving, there is dust EVERYWHERE and it gets on your lips, you wipe and lick, your lips get so chapped they feel like suede, kinda furry -- the Pufs/generic work really well for that too!

VG is a humectant. It draws moisture to itself. It works well as a skin moisturizer unless used in excess when it will draw the moisture from your skin or mucous membranes as is the case with vaping. Which is why it is still dehydrating. Personally I avoid Chapstick or similar as they are petroleum based but a shea based or other natural lip balm will seal your skin from the moisture wicking properties of VG. Also, drink more water than you think you need.

Andria- I did not think of the condensation in the drip tip at all. Thanks! I will be getting some of those tissues.

TonyTT- I thought I was the ONLY one with this problem. I am using all plastic today. I'm glad to see I am not totally alone.

MotherNatural- I knew it was not moistuizing despite others claiming the humectant does moisturize. I could tell by the way it seems to zap moisture from my lips. I seem to drink a lot of water so my mouth is not dry at all, but my lips go nuts. I use USP Lanolin on them ever since I got off being addicted to Chapstick, then Blistex. I have a tube of Carmex that I will alternate when the lanolin seems like it is not helping. I will look into Shea items too.

Today I am using a plastic drip tip.
I am making sure the drip tip is inside my mouth, as I have drawn on it like an analog and maybe it is getting on my lips, and today I'll make sure it is not. I will pay attention to licking my lips and anything else I might be doing when I am working. I'll let you all know how the day went with the dry lip syndrome. I really hope I hit on what ever it is causing it.

I really appreciate every single one of your thoughts and advice on this issue. I am encouraged to start fresh today! :vapor:
