Drying Burning My Attys And Not Glowing Red?

I would add that I dry burn exclusively with a pt (510), no soaking or rinsing. I make the atties bridgeless and drip only, so you can clearly see the coil.

Before I start the coil looks black/dark. Once I get to the point that it glows quickly and easily, the coil looks white when not lit.

There was a thread I saw that had some good macro shots of a coil that was gunked up before/after cleaning and confirmed this.

Here's a link to a thread that got me started on dripping. Not trying to hijack or convert anyone, but there is some good info/instructions about dry burning if anyone is interested.
