I've been using cotton balls for wicks with micro coils, I figured I was safe buying organic 100% cotton balls, but realized they are treated with hydrogen peroxide. So now I'm boiling the cotton balls before use. I've found tons of instruction on boiling, but nothing about drying them. It's been over 24 hours since they've set out to dry and are still retaining quite a but of moisture. Not sure if I'm being paranoid, but now I'm worrying about what could be growing on them since they are damp and exposed at room temp. Should I be worried about anything? Any advice on ways to make them dry faster? I've read some people saying they dry out overnight, this has not been the case with me. Figured I'd store them in an air tight container, but I need them to dry out first for that.

I've always used microfiber towels as they're super-absorbent.

I typically unroll the cotton before I boil it and press it using a wooden spoon once it's done. The wet cotton is transferred to the microfiber towels with one towel on the bottom and one on the top. Depending on how much cotton, you might want to fold the towels over to double the absorption.

I stack something on top of the towels and leave it to press and dry overnight.
