I just got my first 901(Ruyan Direct) in this past tuesday. I love the amount of vapor it produces and how easy it is to top off, however it is tending to get a funny taste. At first it had the usual strange new taste that most new attys have and go away after a day or so, but, the taste I am getting now is a kinda burnt nasty taste that keeps coming back shortly after I top up :(

Any comments would be appreciated?

is there a piece of string on your bridge? sometimes a little piece will stick to the mesh and keep making your hits taste bad.

Also i find after a few days the filter should be washed out and dryed. If it stops wicking properly then you get that taste.

One last thing is there might be too little or too much filter material. You should try something like a tea bag and see if the taste goes away. that way you will know if its the cart itself or the atomizer

Hmmm, thanks for those suggestions! I am about to check for the stragler on the atty. ;)

No stragler that could be caught with the naked eye.

This cartridge was brand new this morning and I, WAIT A MINUTE, just got a fresh tasting hit. I completely filled the cart a while ago. Maybe just topping up on a fresh cart was not enough juice and that was the funky taste culprit.

Will keep you all posted;)

If you take the cart fill out and drip a drop or two on the atty, do you still get that taste? Could be your atty hasn't burned off the primer just yet.

If you don't get the burnt taste when you do that.....

Are you using prefilled carts or blank carts that you fill? If you are using prefilled, I would recommend trying a blank that you fill, if you don't have a blank you could wash out one of the prefilled and then fill with your own juice (make sure to dry the filling good before reusing). If you are doing this already, you might also try pushing the filling down just a bit, it might be touching the bridge and burning a tad.

1) If you have some juice (which sounds like you do if you are topping off), try drop one or two drops directly on the atty and then take a few puffs. If it tastes fresh again, that probably means the atty is running too dry (resulting in that burntish taste). Keep your cart topped off and moist.

2) Never hurts to try a fresh, charged battery as well. I have actually found that that can affect the taste as well.

3) Try change to a fresh batting/cart, or as stated above, try a rolled up tea bag (more info in the DIY thread).

Once you find something that works, it will be much easier to maintain. There is always a learning curve to this technology... My problem seems to be finding flavor that stays flavorful. After a while, they all taste blah (except for coconut, which lingers forever!). But I am working on that with making new DIY batches...

Keep experimenting!

I'd say your cart filler might be an issue. I had similar taste (harsh, waxy taste) with my older 801 when the same filler was used more than 3 days or so.

There are many who re-uses the filler (wash/pat-dry), but I find even after that, it just loses its full fluffiness to hold the liquid... so I suggest to ditch the old one and pop in the new one, or "re-stuff" the filling with small chunks of polyfill pillow filler from walmart. :)

If that's not the case... then have you cleaned your mouthpiece? You might be tasting nic juice... which is kinda "spicy" in a way. ;)

OK you guys/gals rock! The drip on the atty has made a huge diff so far.

BUT, is'nt that bad 4 the atty?

Just be careful dripping. If you drip too much (more than 4 drops in my experience) you'll suck juice into your mouth and it sometimes leaks into the battery.
