DSE901 atomizer, boil or near boil?

I'm gonna boil a few of my older atomizers. Should I put them in the pan as the water is nearly boiling and bring the water to full boiling point, or should I take them out before the the water has fully boiled?

Leave them in with the water boiling for at least 2 minutes. the motion of the water might help break loose some old gunk.

I put them in the cold water and let them stay there till it boils. Usually leave them in there to boil for as much as 10 minutes depending on how bad they are. Drain them, blow them out and if I can let them dry for a bit. If you do it before bed, you can let them dry all night.
