Newbie to the forum, but have been vaping since Feb 2011. I wanted to switch over from a dispos. cart and battery from a local vendor, to a liq ecig. I recently bought a DSE901 auto battery, charged it like I was suppose to, vaped on it for the usual 4-5 hrs of battery life and when it was time to charge it, I did. Now my blue LED wont lite up and no vapor is produced and all I get is the green LED that flashes 5 times. This is now the 2nd battery that has done this to me, it's the weekend and I have no battery - Please HELP!! Can I mod it, can I fix it? thanks!!!

Yes it is an automatic battery and I really dont believe I got any liquid in it. When not using it I even separate the battery from the atty. The odd thing is that I smelled it to make sure it didnt over heat or anything and when I inhale through my nostril to smell it, that actually makes the blue light come on. Once I saw that I tried to take a VERY light drag with the atty and saw the blue light flicker on and then no vap and the green LED flash the 5 times. I have 2 different chargers, one wall unit with a USB adapter and 2 different USB for the comp. Can you open these things up and make a mod out of it (I have started to read some of the other threads here about mods) ?

Thanks so much for your help!!!

If the threads are totally dry on both parts, and the charger is clean and the battery was fully charged, and another battery works fine with your atomizer, then my guess is you have auto batteries? Auto batteries are much easier to damage or kill with juice leaks because they are totally dependent on a little drag switch right inside the open hole in the middle of the threaded end of the battery. That kind of flashing can be indicative of an electrical short (the battery senses that and flashes a warning), and a bit of juice inside the hole of an auto battery can cause a short or other malfunctions of the drag switch. Also, juice in the hole can instead cause the drag switch to stick on leading to the safety cutoff which also causes flashing.

I recommend KR808D-1 manuals ($10 at LiteCigUSA.net) or you could look around for 901 manuals. But they don't work/fit in many 901 PCC cases

All the contacts were clean and dry and making a good connection. I have 2 attys that are from the same manuf (however I just noticed that the #'s on the bottom of the atty's are different) and the batteries are from different manuf. The one that has the orange LED lights up like it is working but no vap comes out using the atty or a cart. (that battery was intended for use with a cart). The newer one is for the liq and I was just soooooo very careful not to overfill the tip and make sure there was no dripping liquid. I have been using this type of combo for months and once I traded in the older battery with the orange led recently it worked for about 3 weeks and then stopped, so I bought the blue LED battery specifically for e-liq and now this is the 2nd one that has behaved the same way. Both batteries when placed on the chargers show that they are fully charged.

Thank you all so much for your help!!

Since this is driving me absolutely crazy!! I can't stop thinking about what happened and why I was able to smoke on it for a couple of hours and then charged it and now it doesn't work..... it just makes no sense!! Is it possible that charging it via my laptop could have shocked/shorted out the battery? but then why would the blue LED light up if I suck on it with no atty?? I know my old atty works just fine but it behaves the same way as the new one when attached to the new battery green LED flashes 5 times. I think I have enough posts now to be able to post on other threads I will try to ask the 901 forum to take a look here and see if anyone else has any input as well. Thank you all so much for your help I really appreciate it.

When you suck on it without an atty there isn't any load on the battery. With an atty creates a load because of the ohms on the atty.

It's possible that charging it on your laptop might have caused a short, but you probably would've seen some computer problems, too. When I used my eGo batteries, I charged them on my laptop and desktop without any problems. I'm still leaning toward juice leaking inside the battery, but you'll probably get some better suggestions on the 901 forum.
