I started with the SE standard model but I have ordered a DSE901 from Totally Wicked. Its in the mail, but I was told there was some kind of "learning curb". Not wanting to bother you guys prematurely I did research first but no reviews I found mentioned anything special. What do I need to know about using a DSE901 that is different from an SE?

Not true. I have had mine since April 29th, and I have only burned out ONE atty. All of my batteries are in great working order. And I still have 3 atty's.
And trust me. Everyone calls my 901 "Raven's new accessory" or "Raven's crack pipe" It is ALWAYS on me. Heck I practically sleep with it. I am FAR from a light vaper.
EDIT: I am not condoning drug use in the slightest. My fiance just thinks that it is sad that I always have this thing on me. He also thinks I am stranger because I talk about cutting nicotine, liquids, mixing nicotine. He laughs over it alot more than I care for him to.
Strangely enough though, he is fine with me starting my own small chemical lab when we get the house, where I can start modding, mixing, and tinkering with the E-cig/PV and Liquids.

Be sure not to drip too much with the 901, too. The auto battery is not sealed and liquid can run thru the atty into the battery and damage it.

We see people burning out batteries left and right, but meanwhile I personally have been using the same 2 batteries everyday since early April. Yeah, a few months ago I would get some dead ones too but not anymore.
In terms of learning to use it correctly, if you have been vaping already you have nothing to worry about. A longer drag technique will put a smile on your face in no time.

someone help me out. After lot of reading, i decided to go with dce901. Now what is mini and what is pen? I guess it must be the size diff. which one is more like the size of a cigg.

Coolmuke, the 901 is considered the "mini" cigarette. An 801 is the "penstyle" which yes, is bigger. There is also a "super mini" that is even smaller than a 901 but I'm not sure what the model number is, maybe 103 or something like that.

Charge the batts, make sure the carts are wet, suck on the end that doesn't light up, keep the end that does light up pointed below the horizontal.

That means I should have it tommorow which means this might be my last pack of cigarettes. Thank god! I was sick of waiting.
I still have to order the x5 packs of attys and batts (when did we stop using actual words? lol) But should my gear die before it gets here, I still have the SE back up I can put the camel liquid into....But I don't wanna! Wish I had knwon that electronic ash gives you two attys, but still I like the little devil icon so its a trade off.

I guess we were just lucky. A month ago, I ordered a DSE901 kit + 2 extra batts + 1 extra atty + a USB charger + a 15ml bottle of 36mg Camel juice + 5 blank carts from e-smokeytreats. My wife and I are (were) both heavy smokers.
I opened the box, put two 901's together, dripped them, put the two spare batts into the two chargers, and haven't stopped vaping since!
I ordered more juice, 4 extra attys and a 2nd wall charger as soon as we decided that vaping was for us. I've cleaned one atty in boiling water one time (no difference really). I blow the 2 attys out every few days (from the batt end) and change the poly filling once a week or so. I put 2-3 drops on atty at the start of each vaping session - and wet the cart 3-4 times a day. We both do a LOT of vaping.
Still using the first attys (except for a test of the 4 spares) and all is well. From what I read, we have been lucky. Original attys and batts and still lots of vapor.
I do NOT recommend our method, but it does show that luck and a good supplier have something to do with the experience. I think this whole vaping thing is GREAT - and so does my wife.

I got a Kit (2 Batts, 1 Atty, 5 Carts, 1 charger) for 32.99 Shipped from e-ciggarette-mart.com, great deal and I liked it, So i ordered more juice from multiple suppliers (Aroma e Juice (Reccomend their Grape) Totally wicked (Camel Flavor) but camel flavor is gross after you stop smoking for a few days, and JC (sample kit) don't care for their juice much... also got some ployfill from walmart to stuff my carts. I got a 2nd kit (So I'd have an extra charger and batts) I also got 2 extra atomizers but both of the extras sucked, so I'm gonna give totally wicked a try for my new atomizers. I WOULD reccomend a usb passthrough, if your at a computer for a while, saves batteries for use when your out and about, also i hear there is a PCC (portable charging case) coming out for the 901 SOON 
I received my mini 901. I put the battery on charge overnight. when i checked in the morning, the battery light is red? i assembled the atomizer and catridge and I am not getting any smoke and the led light is always red. I mean even when i removed the battery from the atomizer its still red. shouldnt the light be off until i inhale?

Also i received few extra empty catridge but it does not have the cotton like material inside it. how do i use such catridge?

Also I would like to say that I love my 901. I think I might have messed up one of the batteries buy dripping too much, but that's my fault. Other than that I'm still on my orinial equipment, atty, batteries, and passthrough.

It sounds like a bad battery, contact the vendor. Be sure to try the second battery if you have one to ensure that the charger isn't part of the problem.
It sounds like the bad one is stuck ON, try tapping it lightly to see if it helps.
Oh, the empty cartridges with no stuffing will need to be filled with poly fiber so they will hold juice.

Any craft store or Walmart that has a craft section should sell poly fill. I've also seen that you can buy Fluvel (the stuff that goes in fish tank filters) from any pet store. If you get the poly fill you probably don't want the kind that is treated to be non-flammable because that has chemicals on it that you don't want. A bag big enough to make a good sized throw pillow is only a couple of dollars and would last a long time.
