DSL Provider?

Just bought a house so I am going to need a new provider, I currently use VM I've not had any problems with them apart from the annoying throttling after like 4gb or something.

The new house has no cables laid down so its just a BT Phoneline so I'll need a new provider.

Most state 8mb but I'm guessing I'll realisticly be getting around 4.

I am looking for as high ACTUAL speed as I can get, competative price and no limits / throttling

Any of you on such a service?

I have been on samknows.com

and there is no LLU operator presence 8-o

That means I'm stuck with BT or a rebundled version of it,

I have been googling and looks like there is tons of reports of excessive throttling by BT which isn't what I want

Is there even a difference by going with someone else using BT's stuff? Will I sitll be throttled the same since its the same exchange? According to SamKnows all I ahve available is

BT Wholesale ADSL
BT Wholesale ADSL Max

You could try Be unlimited they run ADSL2 (Theoretical up to 16Mb)

I live miles from my exchange and more than doubled my useable speeds . Been with them a couple of years now.

Yea can't get that through my exchange I am hoping that since most of the town is covered by VM cable that there isnt too many heav DSL users

I suppose you could have a look at thinkbroadband.com and find a niche provider.

No I dont believe they are.
the way I understand it Yes the 'gateway ' to the exchange is the same but then you are on the servers of the provider. Look at the reviews of different isps - if it were all the same then everyone would have the same.

I know this may sound strange but make sure that your phone line/number does not still have a previous isp ' token' attached. As you have to get it removed before another Isp will touch you (usually via a mac code aka migration) - so to speak.

Could be the reason why you can only get BT variants at the moment.

Sorry I cant be more use as telecomms not my forte.
