Hey buddy how's it going? Looks exactly the same as far as I can tell. What diameter coil? Maybe yours could be slightly smaller it hard to tell but wouldn't make any difference anyways. So yes that's exactly the same, I just preferred this orientation over the other because it gave me more room on the width of the coil and when wicked like this It seems like a more saturated vape as the wicks are maybe a bit shorter and away from the airflow. The only con for me is the slight lag time which is not to bad with my dna mod. What gauge wire are you using?

Oops can't believe I left that out.
30ga kanthal over 1/16 drill bit, 14 wraps each side. Came out to 1.3 ohms nett. Currently vaping on it at 21 watts and it's performing great.
Also you are right; this is a waaaaaay better and much easier set up than what I had previously. I'm gonna wanna increase the inner diameter and drop the number of wraps though, just to make sure wicking to my cotton at the centre of the coil can keep up. Once again, glad i followed your advice
ETA:
Biggest pros of your build:
1) waaaay shorter leads between coil and posts = less hot legs and better consistency on resistance
2) best thing: no spatial restrictions on wire type and diameter. With my method I found that it was impossible to use anything more than 1/16 and 32 ga if I wanted them to align nicely side by side
3) ability to adjust width between the 2 coils for airflow preference
4) waaaaay easier to set up
Cons:
1) not really a con, but I wasn't used to having my leads shoot out longitudinally with respect to the coil. Initially had some problems with doing that because it made my coil bend/curve a little, but in the end I just shaped the leads while pinching the coil with a tweezer and it was easy prays after
