I'm kinda new to the rebuildable world and have picked up a Phoenix v3 Atomizer. I have a few other types on the way threw co-op's and also have a few AGA-T2's. I was wondering if anyone had some links to exciting re-coils of this atty? I've seen a few random ones, but they are fairly basic recoils and many of them are in other languages. I see so many cool videos for the regular Phoenix; dual coil videos, triple and quad wick videos, SS mesh video's, loop style videos with the wick dropping down into the well and so on... but the regular and XL Phoenix are a little bigger and have the vertical screws on the post with the holes for the wire going all the way threw the post so you can stick the wire in either side, or both sides for dual coil.

I'm just trying to get a better coil on this thing, but haven’t been able to since I’m still kinda new. A video would really help, just checking to see if any are out there (other than a recoil to accomplish the same wicking style it already comes with).

Here's some pics of the atty (some are also calling it the rainbow v3 or wyvern)

Just make sure ur wick is under the coil and position ur airhole in front of ur coil... I bore my airhole 1/16 and it vapes like a champ... dont worry about threading it to position the airhole and the coil theres an o-ring at the bottom of the thread to prevent the leaks ;) enjoy the phoenix!

Not quite sure I follow you, got a picture by any chance? Sorry, still kind of new to RBA stuff.

This is a bit late, and I'm a complete noob with this atomizer too, but I think he means make sure at least one leg of your wick is down in the well to soak up excess juice. As far as the air hole goes, on mine if I tighten it all the way the air holes lines up with one of the posts, I just un-tighten it about a quarter turn so that the air hole is lined up with my wick, so the air pulls across the wick. I haven't tried any "alternate" wick/coil setups yet. I did see one reviewer who said you can move the screws from the side of the posts to the top and I may try a vertical wick once my current one dies.

Yea, I've been dropping the wick down in the well since the first rebuild I did of it. I've been using thick gage wire recently for all my coils on this thing as the thin wire doesn't seem to get a good connection on the posts. Thick gage works great, and my coils are nice and low. Like .8ohm or so for my mech mods.

Hmm maybe that's part of my problem, I'm using 32g wire and doing about 7 wraps and my coil is heating up a lot faster in the middle. The first and last loop never seem to light up when dry. What gauge are you using?

I think I'm using 28 now. With the 32 gage I would make a coil, then test it and it would be like 4.2ohms... then vape for a while and test it again, then it would be at 3.5ohms, then back up around 4 the next time I tested it. It kept jumping around on me since it wasn't getting a solid connection. I only made like 2 coils with the 32 gage that where solid, and that took tons of messing with too get. With the 28g, every coil I make the resistance stays the same from the first time I test it to the time I throw it away. One thing I don't like about this atty, the screws just don't make a good connection on thin wire. I was using 28g, doing 3-4 wraps and getting read outs in the 3ohm range.... that just don't right. I've had no issues since using thicker wire now. You can even feel the screws catching and grabbing the thicker wire better wile making it.

yeah, I think I need to get some different gauge wire, I wish there was a B&M I could get it at. It's just frustrating, I watch videos of guys doing quick and simple rebuilds that look exactly like mine and theirs work like a champ and mine is just ok. That's alright though, I'm still learning, and not giving up :D

are you using a mechanical mod? if you notice in alot of videos where people are getting ridiculous amounts of vapor, they are using mechanicals. it allows you to run sub ohm setups where vaping is dramactically a big difference. if ur trying to stay between 1-2 ohms on ur phoenix i suggest going with 30awg kanthal. with 28awg you would have to put on more wraps, being that the wire is really thick and the room to work with in the phoenix is minimal. if ur using a vari volt device then i would stay above 1.6ohms to 2.1 ohms @ 4.2v open up ur airhole to 5/64, you'll put less strain on ur battery and be able to get good amount of vapor on a shorter drag.

i hope that helps you

Just an update, it IS possible to do a vertical coil/wick in a V3, it's just not easy. Here's mine:

I've got one end of the coil in the top of the post on the left(positive I think) and the other wrapped around the screw on the right. It's a cotton ball wick and a 9 wrap coil of 32g kanthal that was wrapped on a hanging nail, slightly larger than an 18g needle. It's pretty high resistance, almost 3 ohms, so I probably should have done fewer wraps, but it hits decent at 4.2v and barely uses any juice.

Nice work. Wonder how SS mesh would work.
