So I ordered 3 Dual Coil Ego Mega Clearomizers from madvapes. I know they that sometimes they need to be broken in but this thing is harsh. Really harsh and not much vapor production compared to the ego tanks that I have been using. I have been using it for about 4 hours and had to put the thing down. Is it possible that the one is bad or is this normal? I was going to try a second one but the thing holds like 5ml and if the second is the same as the first, thats a waste of 10ml. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

What battery and voltage, which ohms dual coil, how did you fill it, (how much juice did you put in and what is the stated capacity of the carto - you mentioned this), how long did you let it settle, and what was the PG/VG of the juice, and have you ever used a cartomizer before (if not, I recommend learning on Boge 3 ohms)

I am using the 1100 ego battery, not sure the volts. 1.6 ohms. I filled it by taken of the tip and slowing dripping down the sides to wet the filler. Probably used about 4mls. I tried it right away and it was harsh. Let it sit over night to soak in but it still is the same. the PG/VG is about 80/20.
I never tried a cart before two weeks ago. I tried a 3.5ml clearomizer which states it is at 2.2-2.7 ohms. I really liked it but they have a LED and it looks a bit fruity when i am out of the house. I just wanted to try something else.

I've heard those big dual coils with stuffing are hard to fill and that some have to use a carto condom push to get juices into the bottom of the carto (the threaded end) and then drip fill the top. And if these have stuffing, then after filling I would lay the carto on different sides for 15-20 minutes to make sure very but of stuffing is damp (longer if more than 20% VG, and longer if the carto is thicker than a normal 9.2mm carto).
But even wicks of a clear carto need time to initially soak up juice so they can wick it well.
Hopefully somebody with experience with them will explain how they fill them. Your PG/VG sounds fine.
Also - if the carto has stuffing then I think you skimped on filling if you only put in 4ml, and in addition, a dual coil will use up juice twice as fast. I would have tried to get at least 4.5ml in.
Fortunately they hold no attraction for me. I don't see the point in using juice and battery charge twice as fast to vape 2 standard resistance coils.
Hopefully some people who use them can give you better suggestions.

Just my experience but with Boge single Coils re: filling dripping down the sides of the carto, letting it sit awhile or giving it the thermometer shake worked well. I now find with my SmokTech Mega DC LR 1.5 ( takes 60 drops) the best way to fill them is by the condom method. Fill large condom with juice, slide the carto over it until the juice just barely comes through the batt end. Immediately roll the carto on flat quickly many times and then blow out the batt end into a paper towel. Wipe off batt end. Refill the same way. Just my experience with different size cartos.

i believe i know which carto you are using ??smok lr dual coil ??they are almost the same diameter as the battery
i have not found a condom that fits these mega-carto's
that is my mainstay set-up at work with 100% vg and i carry it with me every where all the time ,running on the same carto
for 2 weeks now with no problems ,,
from the sounds of things you may have burned your coils right from the get go???when i start a new one i fill fill fill and then let it set for quite a few hours in a warm place,these babies take a little bit to get totally wet the first time,,i burned up a few learning this trick ,,it wont hurt to direct drip a few drops straight down the middle on the coils for the first use either

I just bought one of the ego 1.5 dual coil 4.5ml cartos for my 1000mah ego t bat along with a pack of lr 2.0 boge's and you are right it has a really hard th the flavor is there though. The boge's are really nice lots of vapor and are very smooth at inhale I do think the juice might have something to do with that though because Im running 6mg kbv juice in the boges and 12mg halo juice in the dual coil. There is no way to do the condom method on an ego 1.5 dual coil you just need to fill it with a syringe well placing the needle on the side next to the metal and filler I like to do it in 3 different spots to even the juice out. I think my next purchase will be the 1.7 ohm reserectors because I find that the 1ml of juice that the boge's hold just isnt enough.

I know Boges are only 1ml but the reason they are the most popular cartos for 510 threading is they just work. Another good carto to try (on a 450mah+ battery like you have) would be Kanger 510 Horizontal Coil (2 ohm) cartos. I use the KR8-threaded 2.6 ohm version (at least I think they are the same as Bloog cartos) and the stuffing is very absorbent and the bottom end position of the coil lets gravity help keep the coil area damp. Those are my 2 suggestions for 1ml cartos.
You may also want to try a carto tank. It's a clear cylindrical tank and a specially slotted carto (Boge for the 3ml tanks, XL DC's for the large tanks?) gets put in the middle of the tank and it is surrounded by eliquid. Here is one thread about various tanks

1ml in the carto plus 3ml in the tank = an all day vape.
Also the way I look at it, a nice carto tank will pay for it's self with the number of cartos that you don't toss in the trash.

I've had some of the mega cartos recently that had a harshness and it lasted about a day and a half and eventually went away. As far as the lower vapor - the advice others have given is good - most cartos work best when they are near flooding and kept that way. You might run a pin or needle down the sides of the carto body before filling. Don't force anything. I've used poly foam backer rod - 5/8in diameter fit the EMDCC's batt connection well for a centrifugal filling:

I've been using the EMDCCs since August. The way I fill them is to remove the mouthpiece and on the first fill I drip 100 drops down the inside wall of the carto, rotating the carto between thumb and forefinger. I generally use 80/20 pg/vg ratio, but sometimes use 70/30. If the carto is not full, or starts running low, a harsh draw will result. If the filler isn't singed/burned, more liquid can be added, and it might save the carto after a few draws.
Don't give up yet, I've been using these for a few weeks and they have been great. I particularly like the clear ones, not pretty but really nice to be able to see the juice.
I would say that they actually take morelike 3.5ml even though they say 5 but either way it's plenty for all day use so pretty handy. I did have one that seemed a bit harsh so it could be that the one you have tried is a bit moody but on the whole I love em.
With a fresh Mega DC the first filling I use the condom method 4-5 times on the first fill Day 6 on this DC and still crackling and vaping like new.Have tried every method including the Taryn method and syringe and found the syringe method eventually separated the stuffing from the inside wall of the carto. Worked well at first though.

Yeah I didn't receive any with my DCs but had saved them from my single coil Boges. I'm at the cottage for the next week but when I get back to the city I'm going to do a vid on condom/ DC filling. My wife tonite asked if I was using a new carto A's she could hear the crackling and commented on the large amount of vapor. If you want, when I get back to the city, I could mail you one.
